2, 7, 10, or 16?

So update: I ended up tossing both a 2 and a 7 into the cart, having a 2-sized knife doesn't mean I can't also have a 2. For good measure I also got an 11. Damn, 1 knife (BK14) turned into 4, although I'll most likely just keep the 7 long enough to determine if I can justify keeping it.

Thanks guys, really helped me out :)

Or maybe consider not getting a Becker knife but something else.

Thought about it, couldn't find anything I needed so I figured might as well make it a Becker party.

You can't really go wrong when buying Beckers. They're high quality, low priced, and designed by a knife genius. There quality far exceeds there price, You could easily spend double or more on another manufacturer and you may or may not get better quality.

I'd much rather beat a $80 bk2 thru a stack of fire wood than some shiny pretty thing that cost $250.

Ironically my most-used fixed blade, ignoring the Beckers, is a $250 Gravelle FK5 that I got from the custom subforum here, which I most definitely have beaten through everything.

Ok, double-edit: after staring on the shopping cart long enough I decided to opt out of the 7 and 11 in favor of getting a Kydex from 710 for my 9, so the final count after purchase is a 14 and a 2 on the way, plus a kydex. :)

Flagged for disciplinary review.

Shame. Shame. Shame. (rings bell) Shame. Shame. Shame. (rings bell)

I'm coming to your house and if I find even one knife that isn't a becker anywhere on the property I'm going to flog you on your front lawn so all your neighbors can see. :D

I bought a 7 a while back just out of curiosity. I still don't see where it fits in to my collection where a BK10 wouldn't work as well or better but at the same time I don't really want to get rid of it.

I can't bring myself to even consider over $200 for a knife, much less use one that much lol

You'll get there eventually :) especially if you hang out on this site long enough :D

3V is a helluva steel, and getting a 0.3" thick FFG hand-made blade out of it runs you a pretty penny, but I've never felt more secure about bashing a knife into anything than with the FK5 I have (at least, until a couple weeks ago when I took my BK9 out for her maiden voyage).

I didn't think I'd spend $250 on a knife (the most I've ever spent on any knife) but when I saw the knife I felt a strong urge to help support a local maker who can keep making awesome knives. So far I haven't regretted it.

That was my problem, I started hanging out here too often. :D

I'd be willing to lend a friend a hand and relieved him of this bothersome knife...for a price of course

I've been looking at 3v knives, primarily a bravo 1lt rampless with blue and black g10 just gotta wait it'll one comes available. Another would be a gso 4...Those are about only $200+ exception I'd make as all my knives are users no safe queens.

If you're willing to be patient, there's good makers on the forums that make 3V knives for prices on either side of $200 and post them in the 'Knifemaker's Market > For Sale: Fixed blades'. I personally would rather support an individual hand-making knives than a large company (Although my last 6 knives from Becker say differently, ignore those), which is why I got my FK5. Plus, it's got a FFG which neither BRKT or S!K does, if that's your cup of tea.

I know we have a few knifemakers frequenting here in the BK&T subforum that would be great people to buy knives from, something to consider for purchases higher than $200.

If nothing else, I'd recommend browsing there daily just to see all the gorgeous knives that get made, nothing wrong with just looking.

The 16, which I really like, is too close to the 15 while the 10 fills a gap in your collection.

So, in true BF/BK&T sub-forum fashion, and consistent with spirit and mindset of the Beckerheads I say get both - and a 2 and a 4! :D:thumbup::cool:

I sort of feel the same way, in the reverse order. I don't see where a 10 would fit in my collection...there's nothing it will do that the 7 wouldn't manage just as well. I have one; but the only reason I bought it was because it was a Camillus. I won't buy the KaBar version because I know I'll never use it.
For those of you that love the 10, though - enjoy! It will serve you well.

*edited to add: I've given some thought to why I don't care for the 10, and I thought it was the blade height...but I just pulled out the Camillus 10, and decided that wasn't it. In fact, I liked it a little better than before :o . I still don't know if I'd buy one, though - as much as I like that 5-7 inch blade length aesthetically; when it comes down to USE, I generally go smaller or bigger. If I ever do grab one, I'd probably have to lose both the clip and the ramp.

The 16 is my favorite. It has such a great length it feels so perfect for most tasks. I'm actually a little protective of it

If you are really in the Becker Camp................. How can you not have the BK2? It can and cannot do what others can. But what it can, will do nearly above all in its class...is most impressive. A sweet choice if you might be looking at a shorter blade.

What a great way to explain the bk2

Very nice. 3V is tempting me.

Read your 'half baked' review of the FK5 - very interesting. Would like to see you review your FK5 compared to your Beckers, especially the BK2 or BK10.

You will find no fixed blade non-kitchen knives at my place without a BK&T logo. Also, no house or lawn. I just blew your whole plan apart! 😈
