i am very saddened that i have to let my swords go...Tuxedo and Koi Katanas (in hira zukuri).
these are a couple of my pride and joy. no cutting done with these swords...i only did forms practice with my Koi katana and since my skill with Japanese swordsmanship is not getting any better, i'll let somebody else enjoy them.

tsuka length on both swords measure at 11.5".

asking price is $3000.00 for each...shipped and insured with confirmation # in the USA. if you are from abroad you have to PM or e-mail me...ekim60618@yahoo.com

i apologize for the bad pix...i tried my best to capture the activity of the blade...but only failed! :(

here's Bailey's description of the Tuxedo Katana.

Katana in a Tux

I have been concentrating some effort into building Japanese style swords. They are what I set out to make when I got into knifemaking, so needless to say, they bring me a great deal of satisfaction. Here is one I finished yesterday.

The blade is forged 1075, clay heat treated of course, and 30" blade length. The hamon widens to what is called hitatsura the last foot or so of the tip. It mean "all over hardening", where the hamon kind of goes free style and covers most of the blade. I did this to make the blade a little stiffer at the monouchi or "striking area". The blade also has bohi, or groves on both sides. It cuts like a deamon, and makes a nice deep "whoosh" when you make a cut.

Anyway, the fittings are stainless damascus and sterling silver. Leather handle wrap over stingray with stainless damascus menuki I carved in the form of "ken" or ceremonial swords.

The saya is made of poplar, with black laquer covered by about 10 coats of clear. The kurikata is ivory, and the open end of the saya is wraped with stingray, laquered and sanded to reveal the nodes, and covered with clear coat. The stainless damascus is raindrop pattern, so it matches the dots from the stingray.

KOI KATANA 30" those are not scuff marks on the Koi Katana...they are residual oil that caught reflections when i wiped the blade down for picture taking.

the blade on this katana is forged from W2 tool steel...great activity and lots of utsuri on the hamon. sori is 3/4" inch with thin bohi running on both sides of the blade. tsuba, fuchi kashira are all hand-made by Bailey from mild steels, antiqued, blued, enrgaved in silver and gold. two sterling silver sepas, ito wrap is dark brown silk done in katatemaki style (battle wrap). saya is left natural, polished and laquered to show off the beautiflu tiger stripes.

I salute you for having owned these awesome Katanas and have passed the link to this thread along to a friend who might be interested in both of them.

thank you very much and i appreciate your help...i don't mean to brag but i owned four of Bailey's katanas at one point...that's how much i like his work.
:D

Those totally rock!!! And, since some people get over $1,000 for hunters and 2,000 for bowies, I think you are practically giving them away!

These are very nice swords, at a good price. I own two of Bailey's swords and they're exquisite. One of them I actually got through Mike here, it was nicer than he described and he was a pleasure to do business with.

Mike - did Bailey do the fittings on the Koi katana? I like that design.
