2-blade jack question

Was just wondering ...... Does anyone make a 2-blade jack about 3 1/2" long closed, with rounded bolsters, carbon steel and bone (or stag) handles anymore?

This is the pattern Mnblade I believe is looking for. A healthy 3 1/2" serpentine jack with a clip and a pen. I don't think anyone is making this one right now, at least not the few USA makers left. Probably some nice customs to be had.

Kind of a bad indoor picture, but these are a couple of Ulsters from the 60's.
 
Case makes them with square bolsters, CV, and bone, but not rounded, unfortunately. I like both, but prefer the rounded bolsters myself. Wears the pockets less than the corners on the square ended jacks.

Been thinking about getting one and rounding off the ends ... hmm.
 
I had not even seen that one. The Barnboard Bone looks great. Not the first time I've heard CV requested for Case patterns. :mad: I have the Amber Bone Texas Jack in CV, but the bolsters are square. I prefer round as well.
 
These days "Jack" is a pretty loose term.

There just is not a big market these days for the traditional "Jack Knife".

Probably the best match for what you are looking for is a Gunstock pattern, but I don't have any to show in carbon. Queen has a good ACSB model. Here is a sample in the Rigid brand ( collaboration between Queen / Canal Street ), but it is stainless.

I think the "does ANYONE" was a little confusing if you are just looking for Case knives? They have several variants, but carbon will be hard to find unless you go back 40 years.

Almost every company has made a medium jack at some point in time; just not that popular at current. Matter of fact, I hear a lot of requests but the jack is not one that comes up very often (may be the reason for none on the market). But they were popular 40-70 years ago.

Here is one that is from my daughters collection that she loves. It was very kindly gifted to her a while back by Thawk's children and is one of her all time favorites..


A vintage Diamond Edge 382 Texas Jack pattern produced by Imperial many moons ago.

Edit: I'm sorry mnblade I just realized that the pattern is right, but dawg-gone-it the steel is not what you requested.

Here you go..

Another nice Imperial. She is also a Texas Jack pattern. Carbon steel blades this time. :) Even has a long pull on her master Clip blade. Also has threaded style bolsters. I used to have a slew of these as a kid.

I actually had more than just several of these until recently too. This is the last one left. I gave one to a good friend and forumite member here for him and his son to use.. I gave the other one to very nice friend of my son for his use for his rabbit and squirrel hunting. He shows it to me quite often to remind me of how well he takes care of it due to the previous lessons I taught him and my son about carbon steel care.

I will keep looking but I can't thing of any current production models.

I suppose the 3.5" jack is not as popular, but they are a nostalgic pattern, and like a big peanut, which is still very popular :confused:. Myself, I like a similar three blade serpntine stock knife with round bolster, a california clip, sheeps foot, and pen. A nice compact slim package. Have to dip down in size usually, to avoid the spey, and I like going back 30 or 40 years. The Old Timers are Carbon, and they are all Schrade, Imperial, Ulster, or Craftsman knives.
