hello all! im trying to find a supply store that carries 2 by 72 leather belts. the closer to the east coast the better....thanks,willy;)

HI, I just bought one last month from Sheffield Knifemaker's Supply . They are located in Florida. Good luck to you

i just got my belt today. it is quite a bit smaller than 72. in fact it was close to not fitting. also it does not seem to run verry smooth. are the
se common for a new belt? does anybody have any tips? thanks, willy

It's probably small in anticipation of some stretching--it is leather, after all.;)

I'm not sure what you're doing with the leather belt, if it's finish-related, I think cork belts with compound would be a better choice.

Perhaps you are running the belt too fast. They are designed to run slow on a VS unit. They all seem to wiggle a bit.

it does seem to wiggle a bit. ive got a 4 step pulley set up on a 3400 rpm motor, its on its slowse setting so other than buy a slower motor(i plan to but cant afford it yet) i gotta use it the was it is. however it doesnt seem to bee all that fast...willt

for sharpening i was thinking to go 220 gr for the bad edges then 65micronn then to the 600 and 800 cork and finish with the leather. any feedback wold be greatly apprieciated. so far the 200 to 65 mic to 45mic to 16 mic then the leather seem to work ok.i am hoping to change my belt selection to just a coupla or three so i dont have so many changes! it takes me longer to change belts than to do the actual sharpening!help, willy!!!
