2 factor identification

system has decided my password is wrong, so I cannot change the password, confirm it, set up passkey or backup codes, or receive 2 factor emails -- this all started several days ago on my phone, but it's not working on my desktop either and I have added the bladeforums.com domain to my safe sender list.

i am not joking when i say i have spent probably 20 hours trying to solve this problem. does this mean i will have to start over and lose all my PM's and stats and repay my membership and
start with a new handle and avatar? i can not wrap my head around that in 2026 that there is not a way to fix such a stupid problem. PLEASE, PLEASE look into this. i have tried everything
suggested on the forum and the web. i have bladeforums on my trusted contacts and i even linked my emails together on phone and PC, to see if 2 factor authentication codes show up. nothing works.
if i might make a suggestion.... i think the forum should implement a backup method to log on so that all the members that are locked out can get back on. i bet that less dedicated members that have
this problem just walk away and that is a shame because everyone loses. thanks, gary
 
The forum software already provides a backup method for logging in, backup codes and passkey. Unfortunately, you have to actually implement them before you get locked out.

i have them but passkey does not work without the email.
 
Security codes from the past week started popping up in my email a bit ago.
 
OMG after 2-3 days it finally sent me all the missed verification emails including the one I just asked for! Whew!
 
Make sure to copy your backup codes and setup another form of MFA. You can keep the email, but add at least one of the other methods.
 
We'll close the duplicate account and hopefully you won't need one again in future.
 
OK, I set up a passkey and tried to set up backup codes, but the system tells me my password is no good -- so I changed it and tried again.
now I get a note telling me I'm locked out?
how long does that last, and how do I set up backup codes?
