Well, just as cold as the iceman, the bill-man cometh this month, and with business being slow, It looks like I'll be selling off a few nice knives in this and possibly future threads, I hope this doesn't need to happen for much longer, I'm already to where all my knives are keepers, so this really sucks.
Anyway, first up is a gorgeous dagger by Anders Hogstrom. The large 7" double ground/edged blade is of high carbon steel, and it's differentially tempered to reveal a very active and distinctive double Hamon/Temper line.
The wood on this dagger is called something like: "Redwood Lace Burl", whatever it is, it's amazingly beautiful wood, probably some of the nicest wood I have ever personally seen, and it's finished to a liquid-like gloss. As you can see, both the knife and scabbard are made from this wood and the knife and scabbard fit together perfectly. The black fitting at the throat of the scabbard is I believe polished buffalo horn. The metal fittings on the knife are antiqued copper, which has a really nice patina and antiqued color, the guard has some simple but neat ancient/tribal type carving. There is a retention loop/mechanism made of this same copper on the handle's bottom and some on the scabbard as well. Needless to say, if you know Anders' work, the fit and finish is about as good as it gets.
Large 7" daggers of similar complexity by Anders, generally sell for $1600-$1700 from any number of dealers who sell them, well, because I need some cash very fast, someone is going to steal this thing at $995 shipped insured, Priority. If I wasn't in dire need of the money, I'd price this at $1495 and just wait, but, I don't have that luxury right now, so, this has to be the best deal on a very good Hogstrom out there.
Important! On this sale, and for the Obie too, I really would prefer PayPal and I'll pay the fees, (Please do not ask me to ship to an address that is not confirmed!) If you just can't do PayPal, then a US Postal Money Order sent to me Priority (not regular 1st class, had a money order get lost on its way to me recently (1st class), and it was a PITA to deal with.) So, if you like, you can take the $4 it'll cost, off the price of the knife to pay for the Priority shipping, no big deal, don't mind paying a little for the extra peace of mind, something I have very little off lately.
OK, next up is a very sweet Obenauf. Dead mint, unused/uncarried, it has a 3.25" Wharncliff type blade of a matte silvery finished S30V, the bolsters are satin Ti, the handle is very cool blue carbon fiber. I'm not sure I have seen another Obie with blue CF, I'm sure there are a few, but so far, mine is the only one I have seen. The knife is ridiculously perfect, all the little things Mike is known for like dead centered blade, ultra-strong and crisp ball detent, perfect lockup, silky smooth actions, in all these things, this knife is 100%.
Price on this one is $395 shipped, insured, Priority.
As I said above, PayPal preferred with no fees, if you can't, please send me a US Postal money order via Priority mail, and you can deduct the $4 it costs you from your payment.
If someone were to want both, I suppose I could knock a little off the prices.
First to email me and say the magic words: "They'll take it" gets the knife.
Thanks for looking, here are pics.
