Where is the balance point? If it is on the first finger or forward (towards the blade) of that, I'll take the 3V one.

On the 3v knife the balance point is on the front of the first finger just behind the ricaso area.

Will be fun to see how this stacks up against the BIC I already have from you. Both should be very versatile designs - small enough to use as a knife, but still able to split and do some light chopping / hacking.

Awesome, let me know how it compares. With the 3V you don't have to be limited to light chopping, that steel will put up will an amazing amount of stress. I split an 8" dia maple log that was 5' long last year and the knife held up fine, it took over an hour to get the knife all the way through it.

I meant light chopping only in that a 5" blade is never going to be a heavy chopper. I'm hoping the angled, forward weighted design will make this very effective for its size, and I have no concerns about having to baby 0.2" 3V in a relatively shallow saber grind.
