2 HP Upgrade Done!

Thanks to all who helped me with ideas, setup, and wiring. Here are some pics. I plan on doing a marathon grinding session Sat.

Congrats! What exacatly is the set up? Why the two toggle switches in th box in front of the motor? Is that a varaible speed set up in a clean box in the second pic? Inquiring minds want to know!

Not to speak for Chris, but the left "switch" is actually a speed pot without the knob, and the right switch is for direction. These are the remote controls for the Teco VFD in the clean box.

Thanks guys. Dixie its 2 hp 3 phase motor with vfd controller thats turns single phase to three phase. This setup was cheaper than DC by the way.

You might want to seal up the holes in your switch box to keep the grinding dust and metal powder out of your switch and potentiometer. It will eventually cause trouble!

I got the VFD from Dealers Electric, the motor from Electric Motor Warehouse. The box from Billows electric and all the odds and ends from Depot and Lowes.

Good looking setup Chris. I've got something similar. I went with an under bench mount for the motor though and I love it. But the fact that I have a small shop has a lot to do with it.
