Hello Folks - I have been making knives since 2010 but its been slow going the last few years with work, travel, kids...finally able to get some time at the grinder again so I will be pasting a few here. Thank you for taking a peak....

Oak Hunter:
This is an old Canadian made black diamond file with brass guard and curly oak handle. Blade has been clay quenched and etched. HT in a thermocouple controlled furnace and quenched in parks 50. This was taken down to a very fine edge as a hunting knife. Sheath is a simple one piece fold of 9oz+ veg tanned leather, saddle stitched. I like to use salvage materials - the file was from my fathers old tool box, the handle is local salvage oak, the clay used for quench is form the creek behind my house.

Please don't hesitate to ask any questions.

Large Hunter:

The steel for this blade came from the leaf pack off a 1929 Graham Paige - a car/manufacturer which went defunct in 1962. The steel is not 5160 as hardening tests showed this steel gets extremely hard when quenched in Parks 50. As quenched would skate my hardest file demonstrating higher carbon content than 5160. Test billets exhibited very fine grain structure when snapped - it takes a very fine edge. Horizontal lines on the blade are alloy banding from the steel.

The handle consists of a stainless guard, copper spacer and a very nice piece of Aussie Yarran wood with incredible curl, and depth. Yarran is a very hard / dense arid timber. This is not a chopper, the edge has been ground thin as a large hunting / woods knife. Blade was etched and rubbed. The sheath is 9oz veg tanned leather, saddle stitched. The knife balances at the guard.

Please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions.
