2" idlor wheels

Hey everyone! Help a newbie out! I see a lot of grinders with the aluminum 2 inch idler wheels used for the flat platen and slack belt attatchments. My question is what is the life on these wheels. Do they track well? Should one spend the difference on the rubber wheels(its double the cost) I guess my point is That I wont be a full time maker. How long will the aluminum wheels last and do they come with some head aches?

I've been using mine for near 6 years and have had no problems. I never finish a knife,but I use the hell out of my grinder!
