I have had these blades for quite some time and did not finish them out since I did not have a way to properly heat treat O1. Nathan Burgess helped out by heat treating them for me and he did an outstanding job!:thumbup:

Blade- O1 that is 1/16" thick, 2 1/4" wide, 7 1/4" tip to front of handle scale, 12" OAL.
Heat Treat- Nathan Burgess to RC60.
Handles- one in black and tan linen micarta and one in black canvas micarta, both secured with corby bolts.

Those look great, Smitty. I need to try making a kitchen blade sometime soon.

How are they ground?

10-4 Jason. I take care of mine and they do get a nice patina over time. Neither one of these is mine, one is going to a chef I know and the other is going to my mom. I just used the one going to my mom to cut a onion and a tomato and there is already some discoloration, or as I call it character. These have a scotch brite finish on them so I can clean it up easily. Personally, I'll take the issue of high maintenenace to get the cutting benifits of O1.

Paul,

Hey man, those turned out great! Good looking kitchen ware, and they felt great in hand. Hope you didn't have too much trouble cleaning 'em up. Glad I could help you out, bud.
