Hi,

Thought I'd share my enthusiasm :)

I received two new blades today... a Busse CABS (Choiless Anorexic Boss Street) and a Masao Takahashi/Shosui Takeda collaboration (from Knifeart.com). I thought it was a good opportunity to post a group photo of my favourite 4-5 inch blades in my collection.

First is a pic of the Masao Takahashi/Shosui Takeda collaboration. The pic is from KnifeArt.com... I couldn't match the quality of their photo. A great site to deal with, by the way. I love the stag on this:

Here is a close up of the scales that I took. It's a mortised tang:

Here's the group photo. Top to bottom: F1 with sheephorn scales done by Bark River; Masao Takahashi/Shosui Takeda collaboration; Ray Mears Bushcraft knife by Stephen Wade Cox; Woodlore by Alan Wood; Spyderco Bushcraft (factory 2nd); Nessmuk-style knife by mastersmith James Batson; Busse CABS; Chris Reeves Shadow 4:

Hope you enjoy the pics! :)

That's a durn nice set you have there.

That stag is breathtaking, but my favorite overall is the Ray Mears with the red wood handles. :)

It is a nice knife :)

I think my camera made it look more red than it is in reality... it is more red/brown. There's a bit of a story on the wood for the handle, which I've copied from raymears.com:

"In the spirit of recycling, the handle is made from reclaimed Iroko wood; salvaged from an old church, the wood dates back around 300 years. A hardwood from tropical Africa, Iroko is typically used to make boats and furniture as it is very durable and needs little treatment when used outdoors. Initially a yellow-coloured wood, it darkens over time to the rich brown that can be seen on our handles."

Thanks for the great pics! Man what a collection of users. I have been a die hard standard F1 user up until about a week ago when I got my CABS. Probably my favorite 4" knife I own is this F1 with desert ironwood and a turquoise inlay.

The edge of the Woodlore looks kind of steep. How good of a cutter/slicer is it? The F1 (top) is my favorite here btw.

Particularly when I keep it razor sharp, it slices very well. A more shallow angle on the grind would likely improve its slicing, but then I would worry about its tip and edge strength.

So far I haven't had a time when I wished it would slice better :)

Busse CABS; Chris Reeves Shadow 4:

Walkabout, I could most definitely find some use for these two around this homestead. Always have had a weakness in my heart (and wallet too) for those Chris Reeve's Shadow style knives. Great looking shot of all of them together. Thanks for sharing them with us.
Be safe.

Nice collection of knives.

Have you had a chance to use your Busse CABS?

How does it compare to your other bushcraft knives?

I haven't had the chance to use it yet. In contrast to the regular Boss Street, it feels light and nimble in hand. I'm quite sure that it would perform on the same level as the other blades... or at least that I wouldn't be skilled enough to notice a difference :)

I was just wondering how the convex grind does vs the scandi grind. Im going to get one soon...just wanted to know if you tested it yet. Im sure its a great little knife.
