I was just wondering how the convex grind does vs the scandi grind. Im going to get one soon...just wanted to know if you tested it yet. Im sure its a great little knife.
I've used my other convex grinds (F1, Bark River, Busse SJTac LE, and the Batson Nessmuk) and my scandi grinds (Mora, Woodlore), and I haven't noticed significant differences... however this is likely due to the fact that I'm not very skilled at discerning the subtle strengths and weaknesses. I have noticed that with the thick-bladed convex grind such as the SJTac, that the blade must be very sharp in order to easily do carving such as feather sticks (just like you can carve feather sticks with a very sharp axe). The thinner convex blades like the F1 (though it's still pretty thick) and the Batson perform as well the the scandi grinds, in my judgment. I would expect the CABS to be similar.
My understanding is that the convex grind might withstand a bit harder use (such as batoning) than a scandi grind, as it has more material behind the edge.
