2 tanto intrepids

I just did some trading this weekend and I wound up with 2 of the Buck Intrepids 1 small one and 1 large one. They both have the tanto point. The large one is quite sharp on both front edges (main edge and tanto tip edge)but on the small one, the tanto point is quite dull. Is this just for poking holes or should it also be sharp? Can enyone tell me the purpose of the back edges? They are sharp but not very sharp. Are they for doing heavy cutting instead of slicing?

Ron,
I designed the top chopping edge for just that purpose. A stiff, heavy edge for commo wire, bands, etc.

Thanks for the response Kit, I kind of thought that was what it was for. How about the tanto edge on my small one, should that be sharp also or is it supposed to be kind of blunt?
