2 vs 3 layer SAK

I selected a 2 layer but prefer 84mm’s in that series, unless it’s an Alox Soldier. I have a Tinker and Spartan, but rarely carry them in favor of the Soldier or Small Tinker/ Sportsman

For me a two layer is the most often chosen SAK, an Evo 11 or Sportsman (84mm) to be exact. Though depending on where I'm headed a Farmer/Climber/Hiker/Trekker (3 layer) may be selected, just slightly less often.

I voted 2 layer.

No disputing the 3 layer and up have their use for sure, but the Tinker/Spartan fight far above their weight class IMHO.

I voted 2-layer.

I wish Victorinox would introduce a few new 2-layer models. I can think of several tool changes I’ve longed for and can’t get done custom for a variety of reasons like different spring lengths and weights.

It may have been Sal Glesser who said SAKs are not Lego sets. That’s a good perspective when looking at the custom SAK game.

Traditional scales? 2 layer (Compact)
Alox scales? 3 layer (Pioneer X)

I always need the scissors.

Voted for 3 layers, I need scissors. Tried Compact but I miss the awl to ))) So the Climber is my choice

3 Layer for me. Historically a Super Tinker but recently the Pioneer X has been my favorite.

Well the 2 layer won easily. While I love the scissors on my Super Tinker the 2 layer Tinker is my choice to carry most of the time.
