2 weeks shaving with an opinel 9

I may have to buy one, just to see what the fuss is about.
I seem to remember my grandfather throwing one away in disgust when I was a kid because the lock ring fell off.

I have removed and put back on the lock ring on one of mine and I can't see any way one would come off without some determined effort.

I'd say he should be just fine unless he goes full-retard for some reason...

After all, people have been successfully shaving with blades for quite a few years now.

No idea I was 11 or 12 back then (now 45) so I can't say or sure.

Shaved with my No 8 carbon a few times, and its very highly do-able, I felt so manly afterwards
I havent got it stropped on nothing fancy, in fact I have sharpened on DC4 and stropped on a peace of thin leather with metal polishing paste smeared on it ( they dont have any straight razor shaving supplies here)

this is what I used, and it was really nice and close shave
