2" x 132" Belt Question

Just this week I came across an incredible deal on several hundred 2" x 132" belts. I have not purchased them yet but was curious how easy it would be to shorten the belts down to 72"? The belt brands are 3M and Norton 80 grit to 200 grit. I realy don't want to mess with my grinder so any ideas on how to shorten and tape would be appreciated.

You can't shorten them. You can,however, add a wheel to your grinder and modify it to take the longer belts as well as 2X72 belts.

The tape used to splice belts is heat and solvent setting, not available to the general public, any other splicing efforts that I have seen have met with disaster.

I have a grinder that I run belts from 72" through 132" on by adjusting the tracking wheel position. Perhaps you could look at modifying your machine's tracking wheel setup.
