Well..............while I waited for my friend to pick up the grinder I make one knife ...........from 3mm. thick M2 steel .
And I realize that something is wrong with grinder..............not with this one , but with mine 2x42 beast ???????????? I don t know if I can explain problem correctly .... the feeling when I grind on this one is different then when i grind on mine . Pressing jig with steel in belt is like pushing into the wall .And somehow i can grind every part of blade with more control...like easy to match plunge ...........more clear grinding line ....i don t know ........
On this grinder i used thick steel plate behind belt and ceramic glass was glued with rubber which I use for gluing windshield on automobiles...On mine / I think, but i m not sure 100% / now I have double tape or maybe epoxy ?? Steel behind glass is rigid T profile ....so i have no idea what make this huge difference .Any thought about that ? Maybe rubber make that difference ?
Not same belts .....Same belts on both grinders?
How thick is the rubber/tape?
How thick is their platten compared to yours?
This would be the first thing to change before being certain that there's a problem that needs fixing. Not same belts .....
And it was problem that needs fixing...................... Work rest !! On my friend grinder i used hardened steel and on mine is mild steel .I use angle iron as jig /mild steel/ and that is that . To much friction between work rest and jig make moving jig hard ......... I use lot of pressure when grinding and that pressure make lot of friction , work table on my friend work rest is from hardened steel and my mild steel jig make less friction and that is that ......I will make some modification on all my grinders on work rest .Hard steel , ceramic glass or something else ....have no idea just nowThis would be the first thing to change before being certain that there's a problem that needs fixing.
You could also put micarta or teflon sliders on the bottom of your jig.And it was problem that needs fixing...................... Work rest !! I like teflon idea but how i would fix it to jig ? As far as I know can t be glued with anything ?You could also put micarta or teflon sliders on the bottom of your jig.
Tap you jig and 2x m5 countersunk screwsI like teflon idea but how i would fix it to jig ? As far as I know can t be glued with anything ?
Maybe try UHMW tape instead of teflon?I like teflon idea but how i would fix it to jig ? As far as I know can t be glued with anything ?
I can try that but I believe that part of problem is also grinding dust ? I tried right now jig on ceramic glass and seems that would work , for how long have no idea .For now I will simple glue glass over work rest and we shall see ..............that one ball bearing thing make me thinking as permanent solution .Maybe try UHMW tape instead of teflon?
