2 x 72 Grinder Build

Very nicely done. Not a route I would have taken since I'm lucky enough to have a small mill and lathe at home (lol thank you wife, for bestowing your great and neverending mercy upon my shop). I also have access to some BIG toys too, but it can be a pain to have to move the project away from home base.

Either way, I've been a professional machinist/fabricator/welder for many years, and there's been quite a few times I've built brackets, mechanisms, etc. in exactly the way you have (alum + drill/tap/sand/saw only), just for a change of pace, or because I didn't feel like getting on the big machines.

As all of the skilled knife grinders here know, you can do some pretty amazing stuff with a belt sander and a file. It's somewhat of a lost art nowadays, which is kind of sad.

There is just something wrong with jeweling all that aluminum - now it's too pretty to use!!!

Great Work! I'm sure you'll enjoy your grinder as much as I enjoy my homebrew grinder.

Thanks...Yeah it definetly lost its bling once I started using it...but was fun to do either way. The jeweling itself is a quick process, the difficult part is polishing all that alluminum first (time consuming and dirty process).
