I recently looked up 'lumens' on Google. A standard 100 watt light bulb puts out about 800 lumens so one-fourth of that, 200 lumens, is about equivalent to the output of a 25 watt bulb.
With anything made in USA with higher quality materials and designs, it costs more. You could compare Malkoff dropins with 200lumen output for $50 with a R2 dropin from DX with 200 lumen output for $10, many choose Malkoff because of reliability and quality construction.I recently bought a Fenix PD20 , single CR123. Max is 180. I love the size of it , it is very pocketable.
The problem I see with Surefire is the popularity/hype and thus , higher price point for a lot less oomph.
Some of the lights CM linked to will do the job much better and for less moolah than the E1B.
I owned two Surefire lights , one went to my brother , the G2 stayed with me and will remain in the sock drawer until I get my drop in from Hong Kong that will actually turn it into an impressive light.
My two cents.

Great info, I ended up ordering a Nitecore EX11, might get another different kind so if anyone else has any good suggestions let me know.
Also looked at some of the Sunwayman M10R but it appears no one has any in stock.

Fenix PD10 should meet your requirements
Glad you like it. My favorite thing about the piston drive on my d10 is that it's silent which makes it great for checking on the kids at night. The whole light just has a quality feel to it.
What's the claimed lumens on that one Eric? I think the d10 is around 130 but it's more than enough for daily uses.
Really do like the piston drive for the short time i've had it. Claimed lumens are 200. I'm guessing it is a little shy of that but that is totally a guess. We'll have to get together sometime so you can check it out
