200 Lumen light suggestions

I recently looked up 'lumens' on Google. A standard 100 watt light bulb puts out about 800 lumens so one-fourth of that, 200 lumens, is about equivalent to the output of a 25 watt bulb.

Yea, but it's 800 lumens spread almost 360 degrees. Flashlights are not designed for that. 200 lumens concentrated in a nice beam is quite different from 200 lumens radiating almost 360 degrees outwards.

You can look most lightbulbs head on. If you looked at 200 lumen flashlight head on you'd probably suffer some eye injury. NOTE: Do not look at a high powered flashlight. That's just foolish, and I take no responsibility for anyone that does this.

I recently bought a Fenix PD20 , single CR123. Max is 180. I love the size of it , it is very pocketable.

The problem I see with Surefire is the popularity/hype and thus , higher price point for a lot less oomph.

Some of the lights CM linked to will do the job much better and for less moolah than the E1B.

I owned two Surefire lights , one went to my brother , the G2 stayed with me and will remain in the sock drawer until I get my drop in from Hong Kong that will actually turn it into an impressive light.

My two cents.

With anything made in USA with higher quality materials and designs, it costs more. You could compare Malkoff dropins with 200lumen output for $50 with a R2 dropin from DX with 200 lumen output for $10, many choose Malkoff because of reliability and quality construction.

Great info, I ended up ordering a Nitecore EX11, might get another different kind so if anyone else has any good suggestions let me know.

Also looked at some of the Sunwayman M10R but it appears no one has any in stock.

Let us know what you think of the nitecore after you've tried it.

Surefire 6xp pro, damn sweet light....

it take two batteries

I do like the Surefire's and I have several, but I'm looking for something smaller that I can easily carry everyday.

Hopefully the Nitecore will be here this week and I can then give a review on it

I'm not a regular over here, or even a flashlight afficianado, but I saw this thread and thought I'd drop my $.02 in.

I received a Nebo Redline flashlight for Christmas, and have been VERY impressed with it. It has several settings (220 lumens, 110 lumens and 22 lumens) along with a strobe and S.O.S. function. It's a AA flashlight, very compact with a rotating focusing bezel. Operation is a button on the end (glow in the dark, so you can find it). The tailcap is magnetic and the crown is crenelated (if that matters to you).

Best thing...MSRP is $34.95. I found them at Amazon for ~$24. At that price, I'm thinking of buying a few to give out as prizes to my officers for good work, attendance, etc...this thing has really impressed the hell out of me. It might be worth your look, at least.

:D

Understood.

My point on my G2 was that I do not use it because it's light is a good spot , but dismally yellowish. For the $16 the drop in cost me it will turn out a lot better than it is now.

The economy is bad and only going to get worse , spending cash on expensive lighting just isn't in the forecast for me here in the Republik.

Tostig

sorry for the off topicness. :)

Fenix PD10 should meet your requirements

Looks like a nice light, but it is not 200 or more lumens, which I am looking for. Also it's first setting is medium and not high, which I'm also looking for.

Still waiting for the Nitecore EX11 to arrive and then I'll update this thread with a mini review

How about the lumapower Incendio 3. About $50. Single CR123 battery. Claimed 350 lumens OTF.

That lumapower looks nice as well. Thanks for posting that info

Also received the Nitecore ex11 on Friday. Haven't used it much but there a
Few of things that I noticed right away that I like
1) The light is a perfect size for edc belt or pocket carry. It rides nicely on the belt and nearly disappears until needed. At approx 3" it isn't so big it digs into your side
2) nice white light, very bright, but easily adjusted to lower levels of brightness
3) I like the piston tail switch, wasn't sure if I was going to like
This but turns out I do. Switch is easy to turn on when you want to but not easily turned on by accident when on belt.
4)optional clip is nice and strong, although in my opinion this should include a clip ( cost was an additional 7.95)

With the little time I've used it it really is what I was looking for.
I'm no light expert but this is one I'd recommend to a friend or family
Member. Seems like a solid light for the money

Glad you like it. My favorite thing about the piston drive on my d10 is that it's silent which makes it great for checking on the kids at night. The whole light just has a quality feel to it.

What's the claimed lumens on that one Eric? I think the d10 is around 130 but it's more than enough for daily uses.

Really do like the piston drive for the short time i've had it. Claimed lumens are 200. I'm guessing it is a little shy of that but that is totally a guess. We'll have to get together sometime so you can check it out
