First off I want to thank everybody on here for all that I have learned in the last several months, and for putting up with me this long. I feel I have made some great friends here:thumbup:

I am approaching 2k posts, and the way I babble, I won't be suprised if I get there tomorrow.

Here's the deal. Similar to JWilliams giveaway, but with my own lil twist.
Many of you know and share my passion for fishing.

So I would love to see your favorite fishing photo(only 1) and please tell me about it. Type of fish, type of bait or lure, where you were, time of year, and depth of water. If there was any structure around let me know.

I will give you 1 as an example.

Here is a Butterfly Peackock Bass I caught in a lake called Camatagua in Venezuela. It was my first Peacock Bass I ever caught. I was using 6'6" med heavy rod with 30lb spiderwire spooled in a Shimano Chronarch reel. I caught him in 5 feet of water fishing along side a laydown with a LuckyCraft Sammy110. It was Early January at 0625. The best topwater hit I ever encountered.

He weighed about 6.5lbs. (sorry for the crappy pic, it was along time ago.)

Ok so thats kind of what I'm looking for. If you don't have a picture, you can still enter, just be more detailed in your story. Thanks.

OH I almost forgot the prize.

Here is a lil Fire Kit that will go to the winner.
firekit002.jpg

1 large 5" Ferro rod with magnesium in it. (cool stuff)
1 packet of Wetfire Tinder
1 canister of PCB's, sorry its half full I ran out of cotton balls.
Yes you get the Gossman ferro rod striker also, yes it is sharpened. I did a crappy jute wrap on it.
Also with the Gossman is a pretty sheath with lil ferro rod. Sheath work by Ilbruche! Just so ou know; the sheath doesn't fit the striker perfectly. When I asked Ilbruche for the sheath, I forgot to mention it was his new style striker and not his old. It still holds the striker snug.

Everyone is welcome. Cutoff is Midnight on Sunday, where I will have my daughter pick the winner. Goodluck and thanks again:thumbup:

Awesome giveaway man! Congrats on the 2k! Im gonna sit out the contest though, you have done enough for me lately.:o

Alright! This is my kinda contest!

Maybe not my best photo, but probably one of my most memorable catches.
Type of fish: This is my very first stream bound rainbow trout. I later caught one much bigger, but this was my first!

Location: I was fishing the upper Kings river with my dad just down stream of Wishon Reservoir. We took a good hour hike downstream, and it was very difficult to get down to this spot, a lot of rock climbing. Some places were impossible to get to do to the shear granite cliffs. We were fishing a small pool that was in between two waterfalls, just down stream of a small 1ft. drop waterfall, and just upstream of a good 10ft. waterfall.

Bait used/tactics: I used a single salmon egg with a single small split shot about 5 ft. in front of the egg. The opposite side of the pool was a shear cliff and the water was deeper. So I cast up towards the small waterfall next to the granite wall on the opposite side and let the egg drift. If the line looked like it wasn't drifting properly real in the slack and FISH ON!

Structure: The pool's depth varied it had large holes and pockets in it. In the holes it was probably between 6 and 10ft., otherwise it was maybe 3 ft.(see second photo).

Gear used: I used a 6ft. super ultra light rod with 4lb. fluorocarbon.

Time of year: This was August 31st 2008.

These photos are only to illustrate the pockets in the granite floor I was talking about, and not part of the contest.

To my right, upstream I would cast to the large flat rock in the left of this picture.

This is the middle of the pool, you can see the deep pockets and the far wall. The current would carry the egg along the wall there, then suck it into some of these big deep pockets.

This is my dad fishing to my left/downstream, you can see another large hole, and how the river drops off a 10ft waterfall.

A stream between two lakes in the Titcomb Basin, Wind River Range WY. Fishing with a fly (can't remember which, was using a friend's setup) in a pool in the stream. Middle of July as far as time of year. Caught a rather rare Golden trout.

Nice job fellas, keep em coming. JW no worries bro, if you gotta pick throw it up!
I won't let her pick you

My wifes aunt has a pic of a crappie I shot with my bow last weekend. I will email her for a copy to post:thumbup:

Yeah, my wifes uncle has a stocked pond on his land. Well, everyone has moved away from up there, so nobody ever fishes it any more. The fish are freakin huge and waay overcrowded, and come right up to the surface to eat breadcrumbs. You can reach right out of the boat and net em, I chose to shoot some. It was really easy, not a big deal at all. Hopefully she will be able to get me the pic soon.

Awesome giveaway, thanks for the chance.

I’m actually entering this on behalf of my daughter for two reasons. 1) she loves making fire 2) she has only caught one fish and her story is pretty good.

She caught this fish when she was 7 (she’s now 8) and it was truly her first and only fish.

It was a nice day at black canyon lake in the mogollon rim area of Arizona. Surrounded by nice tall pines that are still recovering from a fire that occurred in 2002, it was the Rodeo / Chedisky fire. The fire was started by a lady that was lost and was trying to signal for rescue, but ended up burning down over 500,000 acres of tall pines and at the time was the 4th largest fire in north America.

Back to fishing. My youngest was using mom’s technique of meal worms and bobbers for a few hours until she got bored. She was really good at casting it out, but she was not getting any bites. A group of guys in their late teens were walking by watching her cast like a mad woman and a bunch of them started snickering, I could overhear one of them say “hahaha, she can cast better than you” pointing at a friend. Not long after that my daughter (Rylee) said she wanted to try a spinner because she was bored watching the bobber drift down the lake. I figured it wasn’t a big deal, I knew she could cast out far enough so I put a super duper on her line. It was a silver one with a treble hook and a few stripes of red paint near the hook. She took her super duper and launched it into the lake and started reeling it in. No longer than 2 seconds go by and she says “dad, this is hard to reel”, I responded with don’t worry about it and keep reeling. A few more cranks of the reel and she says “dad this is really hard to reel in”. I walked over and felt the drag, gave it a couple of spins and said “babe, I think you got a fish”. Now very interested I stayed behind her and watched her struggle reeling, but she got the fish in nice a close. Her sister, my eldest who was nine years old at the time grabbed the net and scooped up the fish. I looked at her fish and was in complete awe, it was a monster 17" rainbow trout. If you have ever fished in the rim lakes of Arizona you probably know that 9 out 10 trout are newly stocked 8 inchers, so this one has been around a few seasons. She must have hit the damn fish square on the head with her spinner. So to sum it up: My youngest caught her first fish on her first cast the first time she used a lure, it was simply amazing and I was very envious of my little girl.

I usually don't post pics of my ugly mug on the internet. It scares the children that might be watching.

This pic was taken about three weeks ago in South Georgia. My wife and I were fishing a small pond in the rain (Tropical Storm Fay:barf:) when she caught her first catfish. She catches panfish and bass like mad but had never caught a cat.

She was stoked! Still wouldn't touch it. She's such a girl sometimes.:p

Bait was a Canadian Crawler on a 1/0 Circle hook. Weightless. Reel is a Zebco Rhino w/8 lb test on a medium light 6' Ugly Stick.
Small pond. Depth (aprox 5"). Weather - breezy, temps in the high 70's - low 80's. Rain off and on.

Thanks for the chance,

This is my son, who was 4 or 5 at the time and is now 7. Its one of my favorite pics. I don't recall the flavor of fish (maybe one of you brainiacs and ID it :)), but it was hauled out of my mother-in-law's lake. I was happy that each of my sons was able to land several that day.

Congrats on 2000 posts!
I want to opt out of the contest, but I can't resist the opportunity to post this photo again :)

This is my niece and I on her first fishing trip. Don't worry, she holds the rod right side up now :)

Sorry for 2 pics but I couldn't post one twin without the other :o

I caught this 2 summers ago off of St. Augustine in Florida when I went with my dad on a fishing charter (A1A Charters, great guys!) for the day. I think I threw up 3 times that day, but still had a great time.

Unfortunately I couldn't tell you what kind of bait, reel, or exact location we were at.
