Allright - I have hit my 2000th's post. Despite what Esav said (to buy a Bear Gryll's edition knife and give it away  ) - I will be doing a giveaway!

Here is what I have to offer.

One of these custom firesteels to offer:

And one of these bracelets to offer:

Bracelet008.jpg

I used to make these for sale. I have MANY colors to choose from - these above were for my nieces.

Here is what I want: Post up a picture of your best friend. Your best bud - and tell me about him or her. Why are they your best bud, why do you trust them, what are they like?

Oh - and Pitdog, they don't need to be human. ;)

I will have my youngest Son Maxwell pick the post he likes best and second best from the applicants. If there are any honorable mentions - they will get a choice of bracelet or knife fob.

Here is his picture:

This is my best friend Major. He's a 7 year old German Shepherd. I got him after my junior year of highschool, and he's been my best woods buddy ever since. He loves being outside, and loves being in the water. He'll run around on a beach for hours biting at waves and swimming. He's equally happy curled up at my feet while I'm posting on BF or watching TV. He keeps our back yard safe from squirrels and rabbits  Sometimes he's too curious for his own good.

He knows my car from it's sound and will bark and be waiting by the door for me, even though my neighbor drives the same exact make and model. He doesn't judge me when I come home late from the bar, and on weekend mornings he's more than happy to right back to bed with me after I let him out when he wakes up. He's also a great co-pilot on long drives. He will often lay his head on my left elbow as it's resting on the console. All he ever wants is to be close to me.

I trust him because I know he loves me unconditionally (this is truly a remarkable thing to me) and because he doesn't care about anything I do as long as I make a little bit of time for him. I've had some great times with him, and I'm looking forward to many more years. He's always there for me and always ready to head for the woods when I need some time to clear my head. Any time of day he's up for anything, as long as it means he gets to be with me. It's an awesome thing.

Eastr,

This is exactly what I am looking for. I know husbands and wifes are good friends and even best friends - but unless you do not have one outside of marriage - I am looking for the one who gets you through the rough times - WSS style! ;)

Congrats on 2K big guy!

Your contest has good timing.

I just got a suprise visit from my best friend from my childhood. We have known eachother from the 4th grade, we joined the USAF together and always remained close friends.I am Godfather to his lil girl and he is Godfather of mine. There is nothing we wouldn't do for eachother, and we have allways been there for eachother many of times. He moved out to California a couple of years ago, and really suprised me with this visit. It is short lived as he is flying out tomorrow, but I hope to see him and his family soon.

If any of you boys in the CA(Monterey to be exact) get pulled over by this guy, drop my name. He'll either let ya go or arrest you on the spot!;)

Here's a pic of him with my other best friend who was obviously happy to see him.

I don't have a best bud... someone that would back me up no matter what. I don't mean to sound like a sad case... I have lots of friends... have been a best man 4 times... and have no enemies. (that are still alive... grrrr)

But.....

I do have a couple of people who believe everything I say... who would follow me into the worst of scenarios. Who see me as a hero with vast intelect, super strength, lighting speed and mind reading abilities. They cheer me up when I'm down.... and can make me do things nobody else would EVER be able to make me do...

.... my kids... Evelynne (6) and Magnus (3).

Last year...

Rick,

Since you don't have a best bud - I think more pics of your very good looking wife are in order. ;)

I love that Evelyn is trying to look tough and Magnus just LOOKS tough!

Here's my buddy Marley. I sprung him from the joint (i.e. the pound :p ) last year and he's been at my side ever since. Here's a picture of him walking through all the leaves this past fall.

Cool Giveaway, Thanks!
This be my buddy. Zakary, my youngest out of 6 kids is into knives as you can see and is learning how to handle them along with other outdoor skills. He is really into trailblazing, building and just plain Ol' hangin' out with Daddy and I wish for it to never stop.

Thanks TF! Congrats on 2K.

These are my brats. The pic is from my sons HS graduation last June.

My daughter has always been my fishing and hiking buddy. She's 15 now and as long as her friends aren't around and the prospect of shopping isn't in the air, she still likes to spend time outdoors with dad. Just don't tell anyone.

My son just turned 20 and is headed to Great Lakes RTC in July for the Navy. We've spent countless hours wrenching on cars, wasting ammo at the range, fishing, and just sitting around the fire. We'll be out in the woods for turkey season in a couple weeks.

Is Zach always bustin' the one sock action? My youngest, Maxwell, busts the one shoe - one sock action all of the time!

TF

He actually goes with naked feet as much as possible, unless he can wear his dinosaur rubber boots.:D

This is the only friend, that has ever been, that didn't do me wrong.

If you please. :D

Thanks for the contest, I'd just like to post but not enter, does that make sense?

Anyway here's my best friend, the only person I could spend eternity with.

wifendog2a.jpg

She's been my soul mate since before time began, the one person I could count on no matter what is happenin' anywhere.

We met through my brother in the 70s we were inseparable by the late 70s early 80s when we married, (7-22-1982) she's been my friend, confidant, love of my life, my conscious.

She's been with me through the toughest, and the bestest :) times, she's the only one tough enough to stand up to me and soft enough to comfort me.

Every morning I wake up I smell her scent on her pillow, the way she whispers I love you when she thinks I'm asleep just makes me grin from ear to ear.

She's the only one who can comfort me when I feel like I'm at deaths door and I don't have much time left, (in reality it's usually just a cold), she's a grounding force in my life and has the ability to make me laugh at my self when I'm bein' pig headed about things goin' on in our life.

She's responsible for the greatest gift I've ever had, our 18 year old daughter, (who luckily has inherited her mothers love and compassion along with a good dose of my cynicism).

We're destined to be Together Forever and I couldn't even begin to imagine where I'd be now if not for her bein' in my life for the last, almost 30 years and I'm too terrified to even think of a moment without her in my future, best friend even comes up short when decribin' my Wife , my Heart, my Soul, and my Companion.

There's a song by the Grateful Dead that describes our relationship as well as I can, Sugar Magnolia

"Sugar Magnolia/Sunshine Daydream"
Words by Robert Hunter and Robert Weir

Sugar Magnolia blossom's blooming
Head's all empty and I don't care
Saw my baby down by the river
Knew she'd have to come up soon for air

Sweet blossom come on under the willow
We can have high times if you'll abide
We can discover the wonders of nature
Rolling in the rushes down by the riverside

She's got everything delightful
She's got everything I need
Takes the wheel when I'm seeing double
Pays my ticket when I speed

She come skimming through rays of violet
She can wade in a drop of dew
She don't come and I don't follow
Waits backstage while I sing to you

She can dance a Cajun rhythm
Jump like a Willys in four wheel drive
She's a summer love in the spring, fall and winter
She can make happy any man alive

Sugar magnolia
Ringin' that blue bell
Caught up in sunlight
Come on out singing
I'll walk you in the sunshine
Come on honey, come along with me

She's got everything delightful
She's got everything I need
A breeze in the pines in the summer night moonlight
Crazy in the sunlight yes indeed

Sometimes when the cuckoo's crying
When the moon is halfway down
Sometimes when the night is dying
I take me out and I wander round
I wander round

Sunshine daydream
Walk you the tall trees
Going where the wind goes
Blooming like a red rose
Breathing more freely
Light out singing
I'll walk you in the morning sunshine
Sunshine daydream
Walk you in the sunshine
