I usually rely on gut feelings on knife buys. This means after reading reviews and other literature pertaining to certain knives. Then I will "sleep on it".

Let the whole thing simmer for a while, and if my feelings become stronger about the knife in question, I will set about making plans to buy it in due course. Otherwise, I will pass and enjoy reading about other people's blade discoveries.

SC_Rebel's currently doing some custom work for me, mutating a Case Wharcliff Copperlock to some un-godly tacticality config. (thumb-studs, G-10 scales, bead-blast, etc) of my choosing. Should be a hoot.
Maybe I'll get him to add thumbstuds to the 110 Custom...
