2008 Hog of the year Forum award(Annual)

I think each year we should select a Hog of the year. The Winner should exemplify the following traits.

1. Enthusiasm for Busse products.
2. Generosity
3. Willingness to teach others
4. Skillful use of knives
5. Honesty and Integrity
6. Mastery at the trough
7. Never displays regret
8. Misc attributes ( exp modifications, sheath making etc)


I nominate Ban. He has a perfect track record in all these areas and is a HOG to be admired and emulated.

I agree with both of you. I would toss in Steelnut and Knife Hunter into the nomination mix...

Stand out guys that will lend a hand to you in a heart beat. Steelnut has also come a long way with his kydex work and has supplied a bunch of people here with sweet sheaths!

I hafta second the nomination for KnifeHunter. He's been sucking up everything available, but when he lets something go, he does so fairly. I KNOW he took a loss on the knife he sold me. Great guy...no question.

Steelnut's a class act as well. I'm good with either.

I think you forgot one:

9. The ability to exhibit all of the above traits after consuming at least half a bottle of JWB.
 
Although I haven't seen #4 displayed yet, I think Old Physics would be up there too :)
 
I'm nominating Ken Lunde. He's always buying, hes been very generous in all my dealings with him, and his pictures make everyone want to buy more Busses. I wouldn't even be on this forum if he hadn't posted his dumb pictures over on sigforum! He even called me a couple times when I first got on just to explain this ganza biz!

Great idea. A poll could be set up to be used for voting and everyone who votes could throw in a little cash so the Boss man could give the winner a shop credit for something nice. We would have to figure a way to limit voting to one per person. Boss...maybe you could even design a "HOG of the Year" knife if this thing takes off.

Well I’m going to get myself in trouble here but here is my opinion.

It is more likely that the HOG of the year does most of his qualifying work Sub Rosa –like say OP and Skunk do.

So I think whatever might happen here in a poll is meaningless.

But the hogs would know, so it would sorta work from that point of view. I mean we could never expect them to nominate themselves!
