Hey, guys, I ordered stainless steel pins...would those be the top performer, pins-wise? I notice some folks getting brass. Could someone give me pros/cons of each? Is it an issue of looks, or is there a definite better performer between the two?
There doesn't seem to be any difference performance-wise between the pins. It's more to do with looks. Aluminum has a matte finish, Brass is yellow, Stainless Steel is brighter/shinier - even with a satin finish.
SS will be hardest, Brass next, then Aluminum. But there is no way you are going to break these pins, regardless of material. They are locked down tight and glued in place. Overkill, frankly.
Dan- is the $30 shipping for Canadians still in effect for the blanks- seems a bit excessive when the blank costs $75. Is this USPS, or UPS?
For a blank, I can do International Flat Rate Envelope - which will be $15. (USPS)
I will not be able to send my deposit in for a few days, up to a week. Hope this won`t cause any problems.
Not a problem. Send when you can.
i would like a knife similar to quai chang, with exhibition grade iron wood and brass pins.
i had ordered before but did not specify the handle and pins. if the high quality iron wood is more let me know. deposit sent by mail.
alex
I upgraded yours to AAA - add $40 to your total when you make final payment.
Will a leather sheath you sold for your first production run also fit these knives or will we need new sheaths?
No, you will need the new sheaths. The price will be the same as the 1st Run sheaths...a steal if you ask me!
Dan,
Can you throw up some pics of the different wood options available as I'd like to see how both look on the knife.
Bocote handles?
I'm in either way. Payment sent.
I don't know what wood options I'm going to offer yet...as of right now, really only just Cocobolo and Ironwood. I may open it up later...doesn't hurt to request something specific. But the harder it is for me to track down a piece, the more unlikely I'll use it. Plus, certain woods I flat-out won't use on this knife. Needs to be a tough/strong wood.
Gonna have to back out. Can't swing a deposit at the moment with rent and CC bills due. Sorry about that.
No worries.
Dan, please add me for another in addition to the 2 that I have paid deposit on already.
3V, Natural Canvas Micarta, Red Liners, Stainless Steel Pins.
Thanks. Deposit will follow.
Done.
If it is not too late, I to would like to place an order.
I will go with the:
CPM 3V
Black Canvas Micarta
Brass Pins
Please let me know if I did make it on time so that I can place a deposit.
Thank you,
Dan Melone
I got you on the list, Dan.
A lot of people have sent deposits in, including me, but there is no acknowledgement on #2 post, as he did on other knife pre-orders. I guess Koster has his hands full on other things to get to it.
Just getting to the list now....
Is 'stryker' tip ...
1. standard
2. an option
3. none of the above
Not an option at this time...but I may make an exception once they are closer to being finished.
Working on updating the list this AM, guys. Thanks!
Dan
