I must have been a better boy that I thought as I received a email shortly before Christmas from Elliott stating I would be receiving a copy of the book.
I have had a chance after things quieting down to look the book over.
Impressions
1. Very high quality printing, paper and pictures. I love the quality of the pictures. You can really tell the differences in bone color etc. Its these fine nuances that really make a difference from other books.
2. I like the fact that there is little history(covered many times in other publications) and concentrates on the patterns themselves.
3. The book is arraigned in a orderly fashion making it easy for reference work. I also really like the vintage Case catalog page section.
4. My only complaint and this comes from a makers perspective is a lack of photos that show the nesting of blades when closed. On many three and four blade knives this is the "money" shot!
5. Over all this book is well written, looks and feels great(high quality paper). This is a book that I will "go to" many times as I research a pattern or just want to relax and "drool" over.
Thanks to Steve and especially Elliott for thinking of me during the Holiday season.
