2010 Cold Steel Recon 1?

I ordered one last night when I noticed it was finally in stock. Looks like a real solid knife.:thumbup:

I went for the PE clip-point flavor.

cant wait to use it!
 
After reading comments about this knife I have decided to buy it. Now I just can't make up my mind weather to buy clip point or tanto point. I like the looks of the tanto version 10 times more than the clip point version. However the clip point will be overall more useful for my needs.

Help me decide guys. :o

the tri-ad lock does not depend on liners for the lock to work, and g-10 is really strong, In tests the blades often break before the g-10 frame, so in this case, liners would add to the weight but add no strength to the lock.
Also I prefer the lighter weight handle for better ballance. In spine whack tests the g-10 frames are great. See my AK-47 video, I'll bet not to many folders can take that much of a beating and still be useable even if they do not fai. As strong as the tri-ad lock is it's even more durable

the Tri-Ad lock is an amazing design, and the best/strongest lock on the market IMO. I'd be interested to see how the 2010 Recon 1 compares to the 2010 Voyagers with their Grivory handles and 6061 Aluminum liners. I noticed on the new Proof DVD that you guys only showed the Recon 1 test at 200lbs, while some of your youtube vids took the tri-ad much higher. Will there be any word on how well the new Voyagers do in the weight hang test? I'd love to know before I choose between the two knives.

easy pick, no voyagers in stock yet. The recons will do better than 200lbs in weight hang tests. It was like at 3 am when we got to that point in filming, on the last day, needles to say the weight hanging got cut short.

+1 have 2 knives with it already and would recommend it without reservation. Plus there is just something about the Cold Steel 2010 designs that just have to be bought and used. Have been currently EDC'ing a mini Ak and it rocks. Might not leave my pocket for a good long time.:D
