2010 Ecolite 110 and 112

Those look sweet! Finally the 110 appeals to me! :D I could just never get over how heavy the classic was. :o

Mine came in today. Both the 110 and 112 are sweet knives! Same indents on both sides so should be fine for lefties also. I got the red 110 and green 112. The paperstone handles seem to be tough. They only have partial liners so I imagine the handles must be pretty durable. I'll get some pics up soon.
Thanks,
Eric

they were well received at shot show. i am sitting in las vegas airport waiting on my flight home to spokane.

will start a thread on the shot show itself

Cool! Do they have any blade-play? My new, classic 110 had quite some; I whacked it right out with a rubber hammer and some protective cloth. :D I may not wish for the need to do that on those micarta scales...

And thanks for the pics, seen them in your other post.

I checked the two I have sitting here in front of me and neither has any blade play in the open position.

I just received my new red 110 today (purchased from arksknives, actually). The blade locks up solidly with no plan in any direction. The handle scales seem firm with no flex. They're very ergonomic and slimmer than the thermoplastic scales on the 422 or the 426 Bucklite models. The blade is razor sharp with even grind lines on both sides.

My only complaint is that the interior of the knife and the pivot point are very gunky - they're coated in some kind of grime that I presume is leftover from whatever lubrication the knife received during assembly.

For the price (equal to or lesser than comparable knives from competitors), I'm pleased.

Here are some technical specs for PaperStone. Their whole website is interesting, too.

I'll have to pick up at least one Ecolite 110 and 112 when I do my new 2010 ordering. (I'm right now still trying to catch things that are being discontinued, like the Kalingas, and the Alphas in 154CM. Then I'll do my 2010 shopping.)

I received my Ecolite 110 in plum red yesterday, and I'm knocked out. The PaperStone contoured handle feels absolutely great--feels like Dymondwood--and is rock-solid, thanks to the partial liners. And the spacing of the pins is such that your fingertips do not touch the pins--they rest only on the nice, comfortable smooth surface of the wonderful PaperStone. Fit and finish is top-notch with no bladeplay whatsoever. I'll certainly be getting a few more of these knives. I'm now a big fan of PaperStone. Buck has really hit on something big here.

Good to hear!! I'm excited about these knives.

I like these a lot. I love the 110, but never use mine because I cant stand how the brass bolsters never stay clean and leave a nasty smell on my hands. Sweet!

You should probably edit this post before you get nailed by the mods for deal spotting.

I just finished my first week of carrying my ecolite 112 . I can now give a little more insight to my first impressions, which were just visual.
As a User, This knife has impressed me. It carries well in a pocket. It's 420 blade keeps a good edge and even more important to me, It is easy to touch up on a stone . The very well designed and ergonomic handles allow it to be used in various grips and positions with ease. The time proven blade design with it's nice pointy tip, Makes it easy to pick a splinter or pluck a stuborn cigar band off of my cheapo smokes. I've opened boxes and cut heavy plastic with it with good results. I like the lightweight design with the heavyweight strength.
If there was one little nitpicky thing I could bring up, and this is something that I think will take care of itself after it breaks in a little more, Is the blade on mine is just a tad bit lazy on closing. If I ease it shut without being a bit aggressive, The blade will sometimes stay out of the handle just enough for the point to be exposed. Like I said, I think with a little lube and some breaking in , It will take care of itself, so I am not worried about it at all. Most of the time it closes solid, Just when I close it easy do I notice this, and I'm just being a little nitpicky because it's my job as a welding instructor! :)
I've always been a 110 fan and this is my first 112, so I am now awaiting a red 110 to keep it company! Once again, Great Job Buck!

Why would I get nailed for deal spotting? I just posted where they could be found. Not where they could be found for the best price....

Quote from posting rules found under FAQ.

"No deal spotting
Yes, we know you found a great price on the Ninja Disembowel 4000 at SuperPriceMART. We don't care. We'd prefer you support the dealers who support BladeForums.com.

As such, we don't allow deal spotting because otherwise the forums would be a quagmire of "deals" (real or imagined) posted everywhere, or unscrupulous people posting "deals" for non paying dealers. So don't do it."

"Auction / Deal / Bargain Spotting
This is a variation of the "no spam" rules that we have. We know you found a great deal on a Ninja Death Tool 3000 - we don't care.

If that dealer wants to advertise on BladeForums.com, encourage them to purchase a Dealer membership here instead of giving them free advertising.

This infraction can be issued as a warning and is worth 10 points towards your total. It expires in 12 months."
