Hi everyone!

I said that I was going to make the D-guard next. I had it three quarters done and someone reminded me that I had to get the 2010 Little Rock Knife Show Raffle Knife, that I volunteered to make, finished before April 1st. I set the D-guard aside and made this. I will finish the D-guard next, (unless something else comes up)

So here it is. The 6 1/2" blade is forged from 1080 and 15N20 in "Starburst" Pattern Damascus (which is a Mosaic pattern that has been slide welded). This was the first time I've made this pattern and the first time I've done a slide weld. The handle is African Blackwood. The fittings are of German Silver. The two pins in the handle are domed (also my first time). The overall length is 11 1/4" long. The spine is domed and has a little up-rising at the clip. I think I like this pattern better than the "W" Feather Damascus, I don't know

You can possibly win this knife by going to the February, 2010 AKA Custom Show in Little Rock; purchase a knife from anyone; they will give you a ticket that you enter in; just maybe, get your name drawn for this knife or one of the knives that other makers are donating.

Tell me what you think!

Thanks for looking!

Fabulous looking knife and probably your brothers best photo to date. Someone will win a real treasure. Pattern looks great and the over all knife is very exciting. Congratulations! Just a chance on this one will generate sales I'm sure.

A very well designed piece.
I really like the way this knife transitions from a very radical pattern damascus to an ultra clean and simple handle/guard design.
In addition, your use of rounded surfaces gives the knife a very confortable "grab me" look. A very elegant knife overall.

Amazing how you just keep coming with these beautiful steel patterns.
Caleb took another outstanding photo.

:thumbup: Great looking knife and excellent picture.

That damascus pattern is awesome and the fittings and black handle make the pattern really stand out.

That is a real beauty. The steel is stunning and the materials you choose to go with it sure fit the bill.

this knife is about to become my new screensaver.
Nice work boys:thumbup::cool:

Thanks for the complements everyone!

Slide welding opens a new door in the patterns I can make. Damascus is so fun to make, especially when I'm experimenting with a new pattern.

what is slide welding?

That's a beautiful little Fighter, Kyle. Very nice details on the guard shaping, and you keep adding interest to your blade profiles.
The damascus pattern is just stunning. Are you dry-welding now?

Saved me from asking!

I like this pattern a lot, but I still think I prefer your feather pattern. That's a killer! Great work, Kyle. You and your brother make a very accomplished pair. Your Mother has much to be proud of.

IMO, this is the best looking knife you have made yet...super clean and fine flow.

Also IMO, you should sell/give away/never use "German Silver" again, except maybe for fileworked liners/spacers, and come to appreciate the stability, hardness and lack of corrosion inherent in 416 ss.

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

For the second time today I have to agree with STeven. Lets hope that it isn't habbit forming;):D

Just a terrific piece. I am more than fine with German silver though I am aware than many don't care for it.

Looks great Kyle! Are you talking about angled tile welding when you say "slide" welding?

You can sure crank these things out!
