Alrighty gents, we are back and ready to present the options for the 2011 knife. After talking to different companies, we have decided to go with GEC this year. We believe they bring the best options to the table and are able to provide us with a unique knife for the Traditional Forum. This will be a new pattern to them...meaning that they will undertake new designs and tooling just for this knife. They have indicated that afterwards, they may choose to make our pattern available to the masses, which is pretty cool. You will have created GEC's next pattern and each of you will essentially have a prototype. Now for the specifics...

Price:
At the outset, we wanted to cap the price at $100. I think we are close, but depending on the quantity we order and the choice of secondary blade, we may slightly go over that amount. That being said and as mentioned above, we are getting a brand new pattern from a company which, in my opinion, makes the most unique and high-quality slipjoints on the market. I venture to say that a few $$ will not matter in the big scheme of things considering the knife you will be getting.

General Specs:
- Closed Length - 3 5/8"
- Nickel silver bolsters and liners
- Custom brown jigged bone
- Either a propeller shield or a bowtie (boat) shield. We are still discussing the final choice with GEC
- 1095 steel with satin finish
- Semi Rounded bolster
- Half Stops
- Candle End Tip (pointy) with nickel silver cap
- Long Pull on main blade
- 2011 Stamp and Blade Forum Tang Stamp...same as last year, but with one star ground off

Secondary Blade Choices:
Pen blade, Caplifter or Punch. A couple things to note about the choices. If we go with a pen blade or a caplifter, the price will be several $$ lower. If anything puts us over the $100 cap we hoped for, it will be the punch blade. Also, the reason why you do not see too many old easy open knives with punches is because the pattern is just not suited for that secondary blade. The punch is shorter and thicker than it should be due to the EO notch. As a result, it is not as usable as other harness patterns. As a voting BF member, I will tell you that it is my preference not to go with the punch and I won't be voting for it. But as a committee member, I and the others felt obligated to offer this pattern as one of your options. That being said, all 3 would be excellent knives, but the latter of the 3 has some drawbacks.

Poll:
We are going to leave the poll open for approximately 2 weeks. LET ME BE VERY CLEAR ABOUT THIS -- IF YOU ARE NOT GOING TO BUY A KNIFE THIS YEAR, DO NOT VOTE IN THIS POLL!!! WE WILL USE THIS POLL TO APPROXIMATE QUANTITY, OF WHICH WE MUST HAVE AN ACCURATE COUNT TO DETERMINE FINAL PRICING. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE DO NOT VOTE IF YOU WILL NOT BE PURCHASING A KNIFE. After the poll is completed, each of you will be asked to send your mailing information and number of knives you will order to a designated committee member. You are welcome in your posts to indicate the number of knives you think you will buy, and we encourage you to do so. By voting in this pole, you are making a gentleman's agreement with me, Chris, Andy and the other BF members that you will be purchasing a 2011 BF Knife. Also, please DO NOT use this poll as an opportunity to vet about how you wish we went with another design/pattern. This is not the place and it will only make our job more difficult. This knife is by majority rule, and we can't make everyone happy. So please offer only positive feedback in this poll.

So...........here are your options. GEC has provided us with these rough designs for the 3 secondary blades. Understand that these are rough designs only, and the final design may vary somewhat. But these will at least let you get an idea for the pattern.

1. EO with Caplifter
2. EO with Punch
3. EO with Pen

For those of you who are interested, the color and jigging pattern on the handle will look substantially like the picture below (again, props to Waynorth on this)

Thanks. Mods please make this a sticky.

Clearly the Caplifter! I'll be purchasing one knife, and thanks for the hard work boys.

I voted for the Pen blade.

I will be purchasing 1 knife.

I'm really glad to hear that you guys picked GEC!

This is gonna be one fine knife!

I voted Caplifter. I'm in for one knife regardless of the secondary blade chosen. Hats off to this years team for putting together what looks to be another great annual BF Knife!

Cap lifter would be my choice. I'll be getting one whatever is chosen for the 2nd blade, though.

I went with the cap lifter and will be purchasing at least 2, possibly a pair and a spare.

Whatever the secondary blade ends up being this looks to be one fantastic knife made by a company I am very fond of.

Thanks for all of your hard work!!

I guess I'm the odd man out but I voted for the punch blade regardless of what blade is chosen I'm getting one.

Gonna be sweet.

I am in for one of whichever blade is chosen. Maybe even two.

I voted for the caplifter.

As in past years, I'll be after 2 of them. :)

Thanks,

B

I like that caplifter myself. Put me down for one of whatever is chosen.

I'm in for 1, but maybe 2! Depending on the
secondary blade! I voted for the pen! I don't
really open to many bottles! But I'm in
either way! Come on pen!!lol

Really nice looking design. I'd be happy with either the caplifter or the pen. I voted for the caplifter.
