I may be for 2, depending on what the actual finished product is.

I may have rocketbomb talked into getting one, too. :D

How about a new poll tallying the actual numbers that will be purchased?

"I'm in for: 1, 2, 3,..."

I understand that some people can't commit when they don't know what they are committing too regarding handle material, final cost, the pattern looking like the pics or the drawing, very different knives in some ways.

I'm in for 3 either whatever happens.

I'm in for one if kept with two blades - this will be my first, so need both blades to make up for missing the last few... ;)

new to the annual knife gig, but I'd take one as pictured/described at $125.

I'm down for two, as is.

In for 1 - GEC makes a very nice knife and it will be neat to see all the variations of this design after the BF knife is completed.

best

Put me in for 4! I'll get some more folks in before the knives come in! The folks on this forum will pull
through like they always do.... Order the knives and watch it happen!! Thanks for the hard work...

I will probably be in for 1. I can't say I've been satisfied with the answers on the knife pattern overall though. I'm sure GEC will make a fine knife, it just doesn't seem to be the knife we voted on. If it was just a matter of it being a cut swedge on the warncliffe instead of drawn that would be one thing. But the blades bear no resemblance to the ones we voted on at all, that is not a turkish clip nor is it a thinline warncliffe. The handle bears really only a passing resemblance. I may have missed it, but as far as I've seen I don't think that has been addressed and I don't think it is fair to ignore it as a concern. I realize the steel had not been specifically addressed etc, but just the basic knife is not what we decided on at all. If this is the only option from GEC I think in fairness to the voters it should be reassessed. I guess I am in the minority in this view, but it does rankle.

The blade steel was addressed by one of the polls. 1095 was chosen by the majority.

This guy dragged me over here ^

I could certainly buy two if the clip doesn't get too long on this one. The knife in the sketch looks great.

Jon,
Hear you load and clear

It is this strange dance of what we want and what GEC is offering

I am in if we keep two blades. Just have too many single blade wharncliffs to spend on another one. :)

What he said. This one speaks to me more than any of the knives offered in the past. Put me down for one at $125.
Also, is there any way to keep the typical GEC blade etching to a minimum? This design doesn't need a lot of etch.

Not a bad idea. Would be easy to tally and even show to GEC as commitment on our end.

As per the spec listed in the sticky and that we sent to GEC, handle material is bone - jigging pattern is an old Case pattern waynorth had put on his HJ6, color is GEC's "green tea". I'd post the actual spec in the stickie, but I don't have time (work and family and broken down car) to post the spec and the accompanying photos. We told GEC NO ETCHING!

Keep in mind that this is not a custom knife. Having a custom knife made would be prohibitively expensive. Also this is GEC's creation and they obviously wanted this to be their interpretation of a Bose pattern, not an exact copy of a Bose pattern. GEC matched our specs very well, arguing over minutiae isn't going to get anyone anywhere - especially when we're not paying custom knife prices. The one thing that we have asked Kevin to ask GEC to change is the swedge on the wharnie from a "cut" to a "drawn" swedge. Sorry I sound flumoxed but it is a tough job trying to keep 100+ people happy while trying to keep the whole process on the tracks. I think I speak for the whole committee when I say that we're pretty excited about this GEC offering. We understand that not everyone's going to be happy, but the majority of people thinking about purchasing this knife are ecstatic.

PG5768 - that sounds like a great idea - THANK YOU!!!!!!
