2012 KITH - Official Entry Thread

I’m In - I will make a knife by December 1, 2012.
Thanks Stacy for taking the time to put this out there. This is what I look forward to every year.

Anyone have theirs done? I'm quickly moving through the multiple projects in front of the grinder and should get some bevels ground today(fingers crossed).

We must be on the same schedule; i got 2 blades profiled, holed drilled and centerline scribed last night. Will do the grinding tonight and hopefully the heat treat over the weekend. I'll pick the best one for the KITH knife.

I have one finished I could throw in, but I haven't been a member long enough. Alas there is always next year. Looking forward to the pics

Yeah!!
I´d like to enter this years KITH!
Got back six blades from hardening today and just spend the evening finishing the hand sanding on one that I wanted to enter.
Tomorrow I´ll cut up a nice piece of Italian olive wood that I took home as a souvenir a few years ago.
Three weeks to go; I´ll have a nice hunter/user made by december 1st :D

This is a awesome exchange!!!! By the time next years KITH rolls around I should have enough grind time under my belt to feel confident that I could give as much as I would recive. See you guys next year.

I'm sorry, but I have to drop out. I messed up the plunge today and don't really have time to start over, I just have too many projects right now. I can finish this knife, but it wouldn't be what I would call acceptable. I'll try again next year.

Well having a run of bad luck. My tanto style blade didnt make it and I am out of the 1095 I was using (got some more on the way but wont be here till monday) so figured I would do a bigger blade in 1/4" 1075 that I have. Well thought I could get away with a brine quench since I had done it several times with thicker blades and had good luck, not so much with this attempt. Got a little crack in the end (usual place it seems) so gonna have to redirect my efforts.

Not officially calling it quits and gonna try to get something turned out by the end of the month but its gonna be cutting it close. I think I have enough 1095 to try a drop point hunter with hamon (parks quenched this time around). Wanted to do something a little different for this but will have to play it safe.

Hope everyone else is having better luck then I am.

Well since this one wont be feel free to give your opinions on overall design. Crappy pics, cell phone, batterys dead in real camera.

Everyone is having problems this year. Lets just move the deadline to Dec 15. Does that sound good to all?

I'm about four hours from being done.

If the date is moved to the 15th, Santa won't have time to deliver my(and likely other's) gift to some good boy or girl by Christmas morn.
Dec. 1st gives Santa that extra few days often needed during the season.

Just a thought.

Peter

p.s. - Stacy, its great to see you up and around.... I trust you're felling better.

Peter,
Yes, some of the folks in Canada and Europe will be a bit behind Christmas Day delivery. I have had several say they were dropping out because the deadline was looming so soon, and others are rushing to get it done. I figure that a New Years KITH is as good as a Christmas KITH anyway.

I am a bit concerned that the group will end up very small if we stick hard to the Dec. 1 date. With two weeks left as it is now, there are only two in the photo thread.

I still plan on having mine done by Dec. 1st, but moving the deadline up would be nice and take off a little pressure ;)

I have a few possible KITH-knives almost ready, but I´m fine with the new deadline. I´ll try to post a picture of the progress within the next few days.

my knife is done except for final sharpening and a sheath but the next 2 weeks are busy for me. Dec 15th will give me some breathing room on the sheath. And a new knife is a new knife, no matter when it gets here. :)

december 15th would give me some air to go the extra mile on the sheeth.
I'd love a 'happy 2013'-knife :D
