2012 lineups: who have we not heard from yet?

FortyTwo,

I couldn't agree more, man!
Not sure if I'd get the tip of CS's Gladius machete around anything too dense, but I think it could holds its own against greenery. ;)

CRKT will be throwing in some photos of new stuff on facebook.
Here are the names of knives I dug out so far.
Folts S.P.E.W, CRKT tool, Mah eraser, kommer free range, m16 stainless handle, Collectable Octopus Cane.

I don't have facebook.. anybody care to post pics up here when they start coming out?

I am interested in that stainless M16...

Kind of weird to me that CRKT is putting out a walking stick...and recently put out an iPhone case...

A good business quote I saw once says "The main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing." But maybe I'm wrong and they'll make millions with 'em. :p

Supply is only maintained by demand.
Don't blame the supplier - blame those who are demanding the supply!
My two cents. ;)

By the way, CRKT's walking stick is friggin' awesome!

Nonsense. Quantity supplied is determined by demand. There are tons of examples out there of products that have been answers looking for questions. Anyone remember when Gerber almost came out with that folding hatchet? :p

I just find it odd for CRKT, as it's outside their usual territory and seems almost like a non sequitur of sorts. Doesn't mean they can't have success with it, though!

That's what I just said, FortyTwo! :)

I found it odd, too, when they came out with their gadget covers earlier in the year. Messes with my sense of what should and should not be...my best guess for that was they, within the company, are fans of said gadgets, and so they wanted to make accessories. Perhaps...
And I see the whole walking stick thing as keeping up with competition (namely Cold Steel).
I was half expecting the Octopus walking stick to be, in fact, a sword cane! Wishful thinking, I suppose... :D

Toodles,
Joe

By my response I meant to indicate that the creation of a product doesn't mean that there actually IS demand. Demand doesn't directly determine what gets produced--it just provides the opportunity and incentive for certain products to get made. So the company launching the product is still responsible for having brought that product to market regardless of the presence or absence of demand. It just means they might not sell many and have to backpedal. :p

I love walking sticks, and own several but just never saw CRKT making one as they're more of the "Inspector Gadget" of the knife world. An animal-figured cane without any weird gizmos or mechanisms just doesn't seem to match their company image.

Ahh...gotcha. I suppose it would then be more accurate to say that continued supply is brought about through demand. Beyond that point comes gimmicks and advertisements to try and create what I'd deem 'artificial' demand.
Blegh...enough thinking for now. ;)

That's was pretty much why I was half-expecting a cane sword Octopus...or at least a switchblade sort of deal. That would be interesting! Although cumbersome...

Methinks there's a touch of derailment...
So, anyone else have any news regarding upcoming stuffs from the knifeworld?

Forgot about Kershaw for a few days there. Wow, I'm really liking several of the new designs. The Piston and Knockout look absolutely incredible -- love that blade shape and grind!! I might just have to day-one that Piston; I don't think I'll be able to just gawk at it once I know it's available. Might even have to check out the Echelon. I'm pleased to see this degree of innovation in design, but that wacky thumb stud really has me wondering.

Good, good stuff.

Well I heard that...Benchmade, Spyderco, and Kershaw are going to rule the knife market. Microtech is now going to "guarantee" that their otf knives will break. SOG will continue making crap folders, Emerson Knives will go up in price another 50%, because Ernie says they're worth it. CRKT will start making their knives from plastic, since it's cheaper than steel. Cold Steel is...well Lynn Thompson is getting fatter. Gerber still sucks. Buck Knives says, "420 rules! Now drink your Cool-aid!" :D:thumbup:

Haha, I love the part about CRKT making knives out of plastic

...well SOG put some stuff up on the website today....... pretty disappointing. :( The new selections include... an L.E.D. knife...? both folding and fixed. And just in case, they threw in a "rescue" model, complete with flea market design.

I expected maybe ONE good thing from them this year

Wow. Yeah--lame. STILL waiting for them to make an extra-long 'hawk. That would have actually been something new.

Looks like they came back with the SogZilla design....called the SlipZilla. Slipjoint design, and looks like a Spyderco Endura. SOG just disappoints.

I hope to have a locking folder made by the end of the year.

Greg Lightfoot/HTM collaboration that should be out in the next few weeks. There's also a 4 inch s35vn bladed titanium framelock Gunhammer being unveiled at Shotshow tomorrow. We actually gave the first marked proto 2012 away in a contest.
