Besides the other inaccuracies in your post [...]

[...] Your grasp of real world knife pricing is as bad as your critiques of knife designs ( ie damning the Machaxe, which you have obviously never owned).

LOL, huh? What other inaccuracies? The man is simply stating his experience with somewhat similar knives and how the difference in the chopping angle seems strange. Does to me too. That's how people make decisions -- they're informed by past experience. Are you absolutely sure that his "bad critiques" are actually without merit? Have YOU owned a Machaxe?

If you never owned the knife in question and yet claim it has design flaws, I'd say it's a safe bet making a firm judgement is inaccurate. So is the claim of $137 which is full retail. And yes, I have actually used several Machaxes before. They are a Khukuri style blade with Ethan's grip design. Nothing "wrong" with them -just a different style of knife.

Man, there are some major fanboys in here... And I thought I was a big advocate for Becker... one product in the lineup doesn't suit my tastes and I get blown up for it... 95% of the time reselling a blade inquires a loss from the retail price and from shipping. That alone makes it hard to justify taking that kind of chance. I deeply research every product I've purchased. 137 dollars, 90 dollars or 75 dollars, it doesn't matter, it's still alot of money and a big leap to take for never having handled such an extreme design. Kabar makes many other large blades that have been on my radar long before the Machax ever came into the picture-the BK9 and the Heavy series for example. If I'm investing any amount of money larger than a candy bar, I'm going to be damn sure I know what I'm getting into. Life's to short (and so is money) just to buy the next big thing on the block for the sake of novelty. I buy stuff to use it, and if I buy something new when I own products that do the same job that I like better, then what's the freaking point? That much is common sense. How this puts me at fault I don't have a clue.

The Machaxe is nothing like a khukri in design-if you've ever used a real one you'd know that there are huge differences. I never said there was anything 'wrong' with them-just that it didn't suit my tastes, but that the patrol machete did. And then I started getting insulted...

Payette.

Like I said if you've never compared them how do you know? And, I am no "fanboy" either. Just showing respect to the design and designer where it's due..

And your claim that the pricing does not really matter now is pretty funny since it was you who made such a big deal of taking a "$137 chance".

On thing is for sure, you are entitled to your own opinion, even if you are dead wrong.:D

I went back and reread the comments where were you insulted? Then you insult all of us with your Fanboy comment and saying you got blown up.....
then there is this

"Considering the amount of time I've spent on these forums, the places I frequent, and the lifestyle I follow, few people will contest that I know what I'm talking about when it comes to large blades."

I doubt you want to know what people think of your knowledge.

I never once disrespected the designer. I'm not willing to take a 75 dollar chance. Or a 50 dollar chance. Or a 2 dollar chance. I made educated decisions and based on my budget, AS I SAID BEFORE, I'm willing to consider it in the event I get hands on and am impressed with performance and ergonomics. You have 67 posts and 10 of them have been trolling in here. I've been around since 2009, have 6,000 posts, and many of them in the largest, most developed threads on using technique, tool review and design input threads on large blades. How you think you have the right to bash me and my experience without being around long enough to even know what kind of experience I have on the topic is laughable. Had I seen your post count before this, I would have written you off a long time ago. Take your shit elsewhere, this is a constructive forum.

I think it's weird looking too. However, having used one at Ethan's place, I have to say I was shocked at how comfortable and effortless chopping is with it. It will smoke a hatchet with less effort. The angle turns out to put a lot of power on target at a very natural wrist angle. Strange isn't it? It's almost like somebody that knew what they were doing put some thought into it.

If you don't like the looks of it simply don't buy one, but if you do, I think you'll be surprised...:D

Again I'd like to try it beforehand, and I haven't written it off. I'm shooting for the Patrol Machete. I'm glad you found it to be a performer.

Post count on an internet forum has NOTHING to do with real world experience concerning anything ,sir.
You included. All I expect is that you get your facts straight And you are right- this is a constructive forum. Which is why maybe you should stop your cursing.

No, but maybe you should be more informed about MY experiences before assuming my blades do nothing but sit on a shelf. I have my facts straight. From the beginning. I executed logical thought processes throughout and made them clear repeatedly. And yet you still have it out for me, as if I personally insulted you in some way, or made some kind of greivous mistake. In my opinion, my only mistake in this thread is wasting my time on you on a school night.

When I get mine, I'd be glad to loan it to you to try out, if you're interested. I honestly think you'll be impressed.

Dude. I've been around longer than you, have a lot more posts, and I don't have two threads in W&C of people laughing at me either. STFU.

People have been laughing at me my entire life. It's called society. Some people suck. It happens. The rest that have similar goals, experiences, etc. that share them with an air of cooperation are the ones I give two craps about. I don't go hunting for prey because I have nothing better to do with the time on my hands like the folks in W&C, nor do I live my life with the goal of making other people feel like garbage. You certainly have been around longer than me, and you do have more posts-but you weren't the one I was addressing, and I certainly have never insulted you or your experiences while disregarding your seniority here.

No. But I just wanted to take a minute and let you know that your rant crossed the radar. That's usually never a good thing.

I too am looking forward to the patrol machete, but from what I understand it'll be at least 2013, possibly longer.....

Btw, that's a very nice offer trade .

I'm going to try and hold off getting a Machax right off. Nothing against it though. I just received a BK9 that I haven't had a chance to use yet except hacking some stuff in the backyard.

Not that anyone here would try to tempt and/ or enable me though :D
