Hi folks -

Since the 2011 review thread is beginning to have a lot of discussions regarding the 2012 knife, let's start a thread so that we can consolidate the discussion and give the 2012 crew a place to begin (and maybe even get some volunteers for the 2012 project).

Let's kick around ideas for what pattern, what company, likes, dislikes etc. here.

best regards -

I would like to see an old school Senator or maybe small-medium Congress, in pearl, faux pearl acrylic or LG pearl. There have been lots of good working-man forum knives, maybe it's time for a gents folder. Also I think MOP would be a cool way to keep things different from previous forum knives.

I would love to see GEC chosen again.

I also agree GEC should be chosen again...but I would like to see a sunfish this year, maybe a sunfish pattern that isnt very common (I am for a swell center but a smaller take at 3 5/8" would be perfect).

I would love to see a marlin spike design with a hawkbill blade, bale, and somewhat uncommon or unusual scale materials: abalone, mother of pearl, mammoth tooth, colored bone or acrylics, etc.

I've been stumping for a sunfish/toenail pattern for a few years now. I'd still like to see one. I think GEC went above and beyond for us this year, and I'd like to see another from them.

I would like to see GEC make next years' knife as well.

I would love to see either a Cattle knife of some sort or something with a Sheepsfoot blade and a Clip or Spear blade. Someone mentioned a while back that the Sheepsfoot blade is virtually only seen on Stockman knives and it would be nice to see it on some other patterns. I am inclined to agree. Could be either a Jack or another pattern with blades opening on opposite ends.

At this point I'm not sure what I would suggest for handle scales but I have really taken a liking to Micarta lately.

I'd love to see a GEC, Stockman, but with an awl and sheepsfoot and clip.

I know Stockman was made a couple of years ago, so this might not be popular, but whatever is chosen let's have a punch and consider a bail!

I love micarta, think it's an excellent material for a working knife and how about yella' un black liners (if possible) like a bumble bee?

Now seems the time to put down our dream knife!

I think it would be great to see a peanut made by GEC. Scale material similar to the 2011 knife would be great.

Gunstock pattern would be my first choice - (I'd love to see GEC's take on one) There was a S&M run of a single blade version that was pretty nice. So my first vote would be a Single Blade Gunstock.

SaddleHorn Pattern as an alternative, I've seen pics of nice customs here in the Traditionals forum, a tricked out one as a Forum knife would be cool.

my $.02

I'd like to see a "peanut on steroids" of sorts ..... around 3 3/8" closed, clip and sheepsfoot blades! :D (I'd take it at 3 1/2" or 3 5/8" also).

An "old school Senator" as suggested by Tom would be cool, too! ;)

I'd love to see an old style cattle knife as 2012 forum knife, 3 3/8" closed with amber jigged bone (peach seed maybe). As for the maker any leading brand would be fine with me.

I would like for GEC to make next year's knife as well.

A two blade Sowbelly pattern with opposite end clip and sheepsfoot would be amazing.

I'm also on board for the swell center Sunfish idea, though.

**edit to add: some 440C and smooth black micarta would be icing on the cake

A GEC saddlehorn WT would be awesome, around 3-3/4" closed. Shadow pattern with copperhead in jigged natural micarta.

GEC for sure!

My vote is for the cattle baron pattern, but would welcome a sunfish too.

Texas Jack!

There ya go!!! One based on the 4" Case 6292 Pattern. Not necessarily by Case but very much like it.

GEC makes a great knife but they don't do squat for Blade Forums. Maybe we can use one of the manufactures who sponsor a sub-forum in the "Manuracture's Forums" section of Blade Forums -- Buck or perhaps others. Buck has been known to make short-run specials.

A two-blade Congress would be nice too.
