Who plans to use their 2012 Traditional Forum Knife and who plans to save it as a collectible?

I will use mine.

I have used the last two, and both are still beautiful.

I haven't decided yet. I really like the E.D.C. I use now. I'll probably use it a little, but I don't think it will kick the Woodsman out of my pocket. I bought that one to specifically be a every day user. I have a number of great knives that I don't use, just because I like to have a dedicated user. There's a good chance that the 2012 Forum knife will sit for a while with the rest of my collection.

Getting one and it will go in the pocket immediately...well, I may strop it first, might even rub a little dirt into it to 'break' it in

If I had one, I would toss it in my pocket and use it like it owed me money!

By that I mean I would carry and use it with great relish.

One of mine is going in my pocket, soon after I open the tube.

The other? I dont know yet...

To me, the design of this knife begs to be used. Jigged bone, no mammoth, ivory, pearl or abalone; and great blade design. I see it as a great weekend carry.

I probably won't be using mine, because:

I already have well over a dozen EDC slipjoints that serve my needs perfectly, most sporting a Wharncliffe, so it would be completely redundant for me as a tool. I also generally prefer a multi-blade with one large and one small blade.

I have another GEC with the same bone jigging pattern, and I find that one too slippery for my EDC preferences.

Based on past examples, the Traditional forum knives seem to be viable collectibles, so it will fit right in with my GEC rarities, short runs, SFOs and factory test run safe queens.

Sorry, guys. :p ;)

There may be a few left. Go to the sticky for buying the 2012 BF knife.

I will wait and see after getting it as far as using it. But I bought it to use. I tend to like a slightly larger slip joint for EDC-ing.

Enjoy your knives fellers  Maybe next year for me :)

What Rick said fits with my feelings. Though I get more fun out of a knife when I can use it, the noble philosophy of 'use the knife, as that is a tool and that is what it is made for' also implies in its pragmatic sense, not using more knives than you need. This is of course impossible for a knifeknut, but looking at all the knives on my desk right now with black patinaed blades, worn edges and scratches, I'm feeling more inclined to leave the forum knife in its pristine form to be admired once in a while. I might yet change my mind.

I do plan on using one when I get it but I bought a few so I can also keep one in pristine condition.

I don't collect knives and I have no idea of how the "collector's value" of this knife could evolve in the future. Maybe the "use one, save one" strategy could help you understand, and then, eventually, I'm guessing it wouldn't be difficult selling the unused one,
After all, it's a very personal choice. I carry my knives and use them.
