Yes it's made in South Africa.

Cheers!

Nik

As a Pinoy with some years of Filipino martial arts on me, all I can say is man does that look sweet!

Looks great, but the best barong machete was the 12". Please bring that one back!

Agreed! The 12" Barong was an excellent machete. Great all around tool. Perfet for so many tasks, I'd really like to see it brought back too!

Love the 12" Barong. I wish they would bring it back also, then maybe I could have one too!
My little guy doesn't like to share!

It's sharpened right here in our HQ :)

I know this is asking a lot, but I would like to see the same for all of your machetes. I have five, and they're awesome (I'll never sell or throw away any of them) but they all came with really rough, ugly edges. Metal flakes, dents, fiber from the workers' gloves...they look like they were ground by someone who doesn't care...and I know Cold Steel cares, which is why it's so odd to me.

I'll definitely be buying more of your machetes (maybe not the ATC but definitely the Barong, Bowie, new katana machete and gladius machete), and it's not like I can't get a usable edge on them with a file and a Lansky Puck, but I have at least 30 of your knives, and without exception, they all came with pretty great edges, whereas these machetes have not.

Anyway, I really would like to see all of your machetes sharpened at your HQ. Cold Steel is my favorite company for edged tools and I've only seen you guys improve over the years.

More of our Machetes are being sharpened in-house at our HQ every year. Others (some of the older models) are provided with a utility edge. It depends on the Machete.
As for next year...well you'll just have to wait and see ;)

And this, ladies and gentlemen, is why I continue to buy Cold Steel. Thanks for the highly satisfactory answer!

In the meantime there's a certain fellow around here that does edgework for ya' on machetes at time of purchase. ;)

And the new Barong handle is WORLDS better than its predecessor. I liked them so much when they came in that I took one for myself to replace the old one I keep in my car. :)

You know, I just might take you up on that. Do you have the Barong Machete in stock?

Here's a family photo when they all got together:

Thanks, yeah. the 12" has gone missing?.........

I heard he found a good home though.

Excellent. I do think I have found my new machete source. Will you be getting Cold Steel's other new machetes, too? Perhaps the Gladius, as well?

Baryonyx tends to stick with traditional outdoor knife/machete designs, so I kinda doubt we'll see the gladius, katana, or kopis there(I like them, but the sword machete idea is kinda gimmicky), though I suspect(and hope) he will stock the royal kukri and smatchet when they are released...

Well, that's fine. I'd really like the smatchet, too.
