2013 Buck 112 without the finger nick

It's a very cool knife, Frank. I like it a lot. Thanks for sharing it with us and feel free to stick around.

Frank,

I would be tickled pink to find one like that!

I don't get the point of nail nicks on large folders. IMO, they ruin the look and the only purpose they serve for me is to collect grime and old peanut butter.

The older Buck 112s (like my 2 dot) had no nail nick and IMO it makes the blade much more beautiful. Personally, I would love to see the 110, 112 and 500 all loose the nick, but that's just me.

Anyway, really cool find.

Curious, has this blade been heat treated at this stage?

If it was not heat treated, it would have failed at a certain point in our assembly process. Not uncommon for some without nail notches to make it to final assembly, but not common that they get sent out.

I totally agree, the nail nick is just unnecessary on these blades. I wonder how many more have made it to consumers without the nail nick.
