This year, a buddy called because he had some cancelations for a few of the farms he leases for his business as an outfitter. By this point, the only tags available were antlerless. That's ok with me, I had only hoped to put meat in the freezer. My wife can't eat beef but venison is no problem. (She even helped me process everything this year. She is a keeper!)
Everyone I have talked to has said how difficult this hunting season has been. Blue tongue has hit hard around here and will take a few years to recover from it.
But I was able to get 2 does as I had hoped. Temps made it challenging though!
I got this one on the last morning. She was actually stepping between the ladder on the 20' stand and the tree!
It's all processed and in the freezer. This is just one of the two but it does feel good to know exactly where your meat has come from.
I hope everyone else has found some success this season. It was the hardest one here in a long time.
