2013 Production 651 "Pigsticker"

If you look at my picture and measure the knife blade v handle, the one for sale is not the correct size. So the handle color is wrong, the sheath is wrong and the dimensions of the knife are wrong. I include another picture of my PigSticker

They actually look pretty much the same to my eye any way. The specs for the new ones on the auction site are showing an 8" blade with an OAL of 13". I need to dig out my 651 and measure it.

I was referring to the second picture of the post and the third picture of the listing.

$400?!?!?! I'll pass.

I had one of the first batch. Liked it well enough but just not my thing. IIRC I sold that and one of the strider like build outs to forum members here.

Thank you kindly heng em for settling that debate.

A quote, "What would you guys think of BRONZE bolsters, mastodon ivory or buffalo, and a mimed S35VN drop point blade with a stone washed finish?" You are all right. Keep up the good work. I need a couple of those 651s BTW.
Yes, Thank you heng em very much. That clears it up for me. Gunna have to get me one now

No problem guys! There may only be one or two floating around on the auction sites. I know for a fact there is zero in the plant.

Oregon, You are not excited about that 301 are you? the one in you avatar? Larry and I had fun getting that project up and running. Hopefully we can continue to make fun, and more exciting knives for you guys in the future :)

I believe it is odd that the "new" one has a different SKU than the "original". There is no reason to use a different number.

The reason we used a different model # is because of the handle color change (GR for green & BK for black). This is standard practice for us so that we don't send the customer a black handled knife instead of a green one.

This knife looks awesome!Just recently started collecting buck knives and this one really caught my eye,but have some questions if any one here is in the know. From what I take it from this thread is that the 2013 released version is actually manufactured in 2007 and just relabeled? And anyone know the value of these in todays market, found a couple in the 2-3 hundred range but they're the 2013 model.Just wondering if I should wait to see if I can find one boxed with the 2007 label or really set my goal on the newer version.Any help appreciated thanks!

Welcome to the forum buck.

from what I could gather they made a few more in 2013 but with an all black handle. Haven't gone back over this thread so don't recall which version has the larger production number? You have to be a gold member or higher to ask value questions but as far as the 2013 model goes I'd say the value is what ever you feel good with paying. There aren't many of them out there of either model.

Oh ok,really helpful. My thinking was why pay all that money and in a year or 2 they just make more that I can find off any dealer at regular price.Really iffy money then if you know what im saying, think I just might wait on this purchase for a while. And thanks for the heads up on asking values, did not know that was a rule so please no one take that against me.

As far as I know and based partly on comments in this thread both time the 651 Pigsticker was produced it was for an order from someone in Australia and only a small portion of each run was sold here in the U.S. Neither run was large to begin with so the number available for sale at any given time in the U.S. is pretty small. I never say the older model for sale a the retail level, only the secondary market, same as the 2013 model. Buck has only made these twice in over 6 years. They might make another run at some point but I'd be pretty surprised if they actually made it a standard production item. I sure wouldn't mind it if they did but as I wouldn't hold my breath.

Thanks badhammer, you convinced me and I am now a new owner of a 651 Pig sticker.Brand new with box that says the 2013 manufacture date on it,and will be here by the end of the week.I upgraded my buck collection big time this week, actually got 3 knives on there way (116 and the 107 as well),it will complete the 100 series collection except for the Buck Axe 106.Really want the Buck 184 next but think thats going to have to take a back seat for a while. Thanks gain for the info!

When we first had the chance to get one the price was $45.00 plus shipping ($7.00??) They were considered a real bargain and went fast I think mainly because of the large long blade. I know of several that were bought last year in Atlanta at the Blade show for $150.00 I used to have one of the 45 buck PS but a unnamed brother of mine traded me out of it........He knows who he is. .....
