Description:

During the 1800's the British Empire was hell bent on gobbling up as much of the Indian sub-continent as they could, seizing dominion with massive fire power and the point of the bayonet.
But when the British attempted to subdue the Sikhs and other martial clans they received a very rude awakening!
Suddenly soldiers and cavalrymen alike began literally losing their heads – not to mention their arms and legs- to a fearful Indo-Persian sword called the Talwar!
With it's razor sharp broad, curved blade it stopped the British cold in many battles and inflicted unheard of losses and the most ghastly wounds imaginable.
Now, almost two hundred years later Cold Steel has harnessed the fearsome cutting power of one of the world's most renowned swords in a tactical folder that we believe is truly worthy of the name Talwar.
Designed by celebrated custom knife-maker Andrew Demko and Cold Steel President Lynn C Thompson, the largest of our diverse new Talwar series boasts the widest blade available (measuring a full 2" wide!). Flat ground, with a continuously curved cutting edge from choil to upswept point it offers cutting and piercing power hitherto unavailable in a folding knife.
To compliment the Talwar's razor edge and lethal point we developed a truly exceptional handle.
Made from American G-10, it's textured and contoured pistol grip handle features strategically placed finger grooves for comfort and safety, and to further protect your precious fingers from this formidable blade, we have equipped the Talwar with our industry-leading Tri-Ad® lock. Tried and tested, this super safe locking mechanism has proven to be unequalled by any folding knife lock in the industry – at any price!
Faster on the draw than any switchblade, our Talwar comes equipped with Andrew Demko's revolutionary ambidextrous thumb plate. By draw-snagging the knife on a pocket the awesome power of the Talwar can be in your hand at the speed of lightning!

Looks....convincing.

I'm game.

Edited to add:

This knife checks some important boxes for me:
-Big
-wave feature
-no bead blasted finish ( sorry guys, pet peeve)

The voyagers have no wave feature, and the Espada is bead blasted.
So this is a great development for me. I was on the fence about those knives. Both missing a key requirement for me.

It looks absolutely demonic. I love it.

Awwww man...don't get me wrong, I'm really excited for it, but now there's too much stuff coming out that I want all at once!

A lot of Condor's 2013 lineup just shipped, and I want their Matagi, Discord, Bushcraft Parang, Crocodilian, and Speed Machete, all but 1 of of which just shipped. I was planning on ordering the full lot of them next payday, but if the Xl Talwar is available too...I may have to rethink my plans. Damn now this is getting difficult, lol. I suppose if the Crocodilian hasn't shipped yet, I could hold off on it and the Discord and get the Talwar instead...

I got my Talwar in a couple days ago. Absolutely beautiful knife, with the quality we've come to expect from Cold Steel's folders. Razor sharp out of the box, awesome triad lock, wave feature is always fun...my only minor complaint is the texturing of the G10, it's a little overly aggressive IMO. It could be toned down a notch or two, and would still feature plenty of traction. It is bigger than what I EDC(I know some people carry big EDC folders, me, I prefer something with a blade length of 3 inches or so), but I love owning big folders, and this is another great one to add to the CS lineup.

I may also pick up the 4'' version, fully serrated. I'm not fanatical about serrated blades, but this one looks pretty good with the full serrations...

Don't worry about the aggressiveness of the G10, as it will wear down and smooth out as you carry and use it.

A little bit of sandpaper or JB Weld will solve that little problem.

Sure, but when there are countless blades that come ready for carry without having to make extra work for myself(including other CS folders like the Spartan and the Ti-Lite), why carry this over one of them? Unless I have a specific need for a knife of this size(I don't), I may as well just put it with my other nice looking but rarely, if ever, carried folders.

I'm puzzled about your willingness to spend around a hundred bones on a folder but not take <5 minutes out of your day to sand it under the pocket clip a little to make it more to your liking.

Time spent doing that is time NOT spent doing something I enjoy, and it's also modifying the look of a knife, something I dislike having to do(cause it's NOT gonna look nice with me doing it). I hate maintenance of any sort. Sharpening knives and cleaning guns annoys me to no end, but I accept that as something that will have to be done, as all blades will dull and all guns will get dirty with use. I'm already doing more work than I want to be doing, no need to add more to the list when plenty of other options are good to go without the extra effort.

And money isn't a concern-I spent $85 on my Rajah 2, and it's not even legal for me to carry, so it too sits around the house. Can't carry any of my big fixed blades either, stuff like my Ka-Bar USMC, Ontario SP10, etc, but I don't mind buying them. And I've paid for around 2 dozen machetes, the majority of them being Condor or Aranyik, which generally run $50+ for each one...yet I very rarely need a machete, and could easily accomplish ALL my machete requiring tasks with nothing more than my Cold Steel jungle machete or my Imacasa colima, neither of which cost me more than $30.

Any pictures of this thing next to an espada large? I think the blades look similar..almost too similar haha I just mean I was really excited about this blade but if the blade is almost exactly the same as the espada large then I am not sure I am gonna grab this.

I love the Large Espada (I carry the original - shiny - one when I wear a suit) but the XL Talwar has become my daily carry knife.
They are very different beasts

The Espada has a very very prominent clipped point, this...doesn't have a clipped point at all. How is that almost exactly the same?

Chill out man, I know what shapes they have lol You're telling me that by looking at the picture above you don't see any similarity?

Sure, in the similarities that they both have a lot of belly in an edge, but they're no more "almost exactly the same" than a Mora and an Ontario Pilot's Survival Knife, or a Spyderco Manix 2 and a Kershaw Blur.
