I find it ironic Blade takes place in Atlanta, a town that apparently hates knives. I went to GT and really couldn't carry mine anywhere. I visited lately, and took the wife to many of the sites. Metal detectors everywhere. I had to CHECK my SAK classic with it's 2" blade before going into any of the museums/public places.
Interestingly, they took the SAK, but I was able to sneak in my BM 710 (in wife's purse) and HK P30 (AIWB and just told them it was my belt buckle when it set off the detector, I don't normally carry this way so no round in chamber). If someone really wanted cause trouble, the security at the front of the museums wouldn't stop anything.
You are describing every major city for the most part, state of the times really. I do agree with you though about these 'security measures' not really protecting anyone, it is a means of making people feel safe. However, I believe that the most dangerous place in America right now are gun free zones……
