2014 BladeForums Knife Gallery

I'm late to the party with these (actually I missed the party completely) but they are great looking knives! Are the flaws that the 'ppp' circle etch is missing on the top blade and the 'c' stamping error on the bottom? Even without/with they are nice pieces!

Seconds (can you see any flaws??)

I think that this years Forum knife ( for my taste anyway) have come up Trumps compared to previous- following extremely closely is the 2011 EO and the 2009Barlow.

This is just awesome, I am truly excited about this knife arriving.

My good friend Paul sent me a message- in it saying that he just spied the Washington Jack- Charlie- I feel like a bit of a wally when I go on about these knives- but perhaps you have reached the Pinacle with the Washington Bolstered Jack - finished off so nicely with the Caps.
It's going to be hard to top this knife- but that's the beauty in what you are doing- by sourcing another fabulous pattern - adding your touch - and presto.

Well done Charlie- and to the very hard working team who made this knife possible- and to Mr John Lloyd with once again a very generous supply of most excellent Stag.
Thank you everyone.

I haven't had a chance to get online much over last week or so, but man that is a beauty. I have to admit, I have checked my mail box a few times. Even though I know it will not be there yet. :)

Post your photos when you get yours, but meanwhile, I'll go first, 'cause I got mine already! :D:D:D:D:D:D

Oh, the torture!!! I feel like a little kid counting down the days to Christmas morning!:D:D:D

I'm thankful to be a part of this - it's really a monumental feat that's been pulled off flawlessly, but only because of the generosity of some really great folks. :triumphant:

Thanks Barry for getting these out to us so quickly. I'm feeling like a little kid a few days before Christmas, so much anticipation.

Something with the swedge seemed off to me too. I just don't know enough about swedge grinding to know for sure.

On another note, "Swedge Grinders" would make a great band name.

Michael

I think you know more about swedge grinding than you think you do, Michael!!
In fact I think you are swedge psychic!! (theme from the Twilight Zone plays!)
This flaw was hidden (knife closed) in the first pictures!!:eek:
Here it is blown up a bit:
BFseconds4_zps92c1d607.jpg

Instead of tapering to zero at the blade tip like it should, the swedge stays wide, right "off" the blade!!
Makes the tip lop-sided! As Meako says, it's still a very useful knife.
But it is quite a job to inspect these things. I'd probably get fired after two days if I tried that job!!

It is amazing that each of these two knives could lead a useful, satisfying "life", yet give certain collectors fits! Me included!
Thanks for playing "find the flaws" with me, Michael and everyone!! We had some fun with Skunk "seconds" at the Rendezvous!

Can't wait till we start seeing the "firsts"!! Any day now!!

Great looking Jackknife. Well done Charlie, you pulled off what we all thought wouldn't happen.

Congratulations to all involved. I hope everyone who receives them are happy with their stag variations :D

nice looking label! nice looking knife…
Congrats to all involved and all the new owners of this pattern
Gene

Definitely well done. I wish I could have gotten in on this one. Square or round tangs?

Square tang navihawk.

Another big sack 'o' knives is going out in today's mail. :D :D

There are still a few addresses I don't have, but we're working on it. :o:o:o:o

Please remember guys, I haven't looked at these and some may have quality control issues or whatever, so if you get a knife you feel isn't up to snuff, contact me or Charlie for resolution. Keep in mind that these are production knives and not custom works of perfection.

Thanks everybody and
HAPPY COON FINGERIN' and CHICKEN EYEIN'!

I honestly didn't notice the mucked-up swedge until you pointed it out.

The tang stamp that a few people have pointed out as the flaw actually looks like a "2" stamp to me, which GEC stamps on some of their factory seconds. Not sure why the other doesn't have it. I have a few seconds... sometimes they are stamped with a "2" on the tang, sometimes with an "S" stamp on the tang, and sometimes with a file mark on the tang.

This year's knife is a winner for sure. Can't wait for mine to come!!!

Here is a photo of GEC's various seconds marks. I think the "2" and "S" stamps are done at the factory, and the file marks are done by dealers (possibly Barry).

Who's going to be the lucky winner to be able to post the first received knife other than Charlie and Barry??? Guessing somebody who lives in the PNW should be getting one pretty quick here....

Here is a shot of my Eric's Jack, this year's runner-up, to hold me over until I get the GEC knife.

What a beautiful knife.
This is perfect,just perfect!
I gotta thank Charlie for ramroding this years traditional forum knife, the crew at GEC for getting' 'em done so quick,John Lloyd for donating the stag...the beautiful stag, man o man is this stag beautiful!
Thanks also to Liam for the tube art and Barry for handling the distribution of the finished knives.

The stag is perfectly proportioned for the knife, the shield sets wonderfully in the stag & the blade is centered.
Oh and it's sharp right out of the tube.
What a knife!
Thanks again to all involved,I can now die with the perfect knife in my pocket!
