eBay is a cesspool for counterfeit everything.......

The worst part is that someone will base what they think of a knife brand on using a counterfiet...

Not sure why the bigger players like Buck let this happen.

These should all be reported. How hard would it be for them to check eBay once a week and report all the fakes?!

Reality Check.
No manufacturers asks or allows counterfeits of their product to be made.
It is a wholly illegal business run by criminals who don't follow laws, international or otherwise.
Fighting them legally doesn't work. Like cockroaches, you turn the light on them and they scatter, only to pop up someplace else.
Counterfeit items get reported to Ebay all the time. It has already been adjudicated that they are not responsible for items being posted by individuals. Why would they pull accounts that obviously make them money because buyers choose to purchase illegal items?

Possibly the best thing one can do is report these individuals to the U.S. Customs dept. Even though overworked, they are the only ones that can really stop shipments of illegal items entering the country. Perhaps if enough reports are given, some action may be taken.

If one wants to know why all this is happening Read the book or watch the video called "Death By China":

I am not sure if you read their official policy on counterfeit items....

http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/replica-counterfeit.html

It looks to me like they take responsibility for what is posted.

Whether they act upon their own rules is another thing, however if they have an established and clear rule against counterfeit items, then pressure on them to enforce that rule is a solution.

A call from bigger companies like Buck/BM/Spyderco, list goes on could do wonders....

Or perhaps bringing this to the attention of the public through media, and focusing on eBay would also help. It would at least educate the general knife buying public who gets taken by this junk every day, and put some pressure on eBay to enforce their own rules.

I hear only silence. I guess it's not costing them enough to fight for....

Nobody seems to be fighting for much these days, and the general consensus is that 'we can't win' so why bother.

That doesn't seem very American.

Good on the Buck forum for making that a sticky.

I wish every manufacturers forum had a sticky with named known offenders.
I know it wouldn't stop it, but it would be beneficial for some Blade Forums members.
It could even hurt business for some of these thieves.

The problem is that they seldom do a thing, or even close the sale when you report one. They either don't have time, don't care, or both.

I've reported many over the past two years, and not one was even taken down. I've given up on reporting them.

Policy Schmolicy. Looking at all the listings for counterfeit items on their site, does it appear to you that they are overly concerned with following their own policy?
I've seen manufacturers report these items and nothing is done by Ebay. As I said, why should they? They get paid if they allow the sale.
It's a numbers game. Sure, a Manufacturer could feasibly start a lawsuit against ebay for allowing these sales. But because of the former ruling and set precedence they will likely be acquitted and because of their wealth, they can tie up any manufacturer in court for years.

Well than maybe this is all just talk....

The only one losing out is knife enthusiasts.

Buck, and almost all knife manufactures (I will stick to knives, but this includes EVERYTHING) make most of their knives in China anyways.

This is a by-product, Karma, call it what you will.

Even the manufactures that don't, like BM, still use certain parts that are made China.

We gave our jobs to the Chinese and now they want it all.....

North America had a stupid plan, and now we are paying for it.

I know this is not the political forum, but this is a corporate/political problem.

The basics are corporate greed, that as always, hurts the general public the most.

Not that it is overly effective, but Ebay does actually try to act upon listings that are brought to their attention that are either fake or fradulent. The problem is (much like elsewhere) there is not enough resoruces to police it and even if there was; there is little if any punishment that comes to the offendors in the end. So it is somewhat pointless. If anything they likely just pull the item - or if multiple issues - pull the account. It's not that hard for someone to get another one though.
They are only a microcasm of the rest of the business and law enforcement realm.

As far as the other stuff - our government and legal system is what ran business off - it's not even really about wages(whatever wage savings is eaten up in logistics). Too much regulation, highest corp taxes in the world, legal issues out the whazoo.........

Seller refunded my money yesterday. Have a youtube (not mine) video showing the difference between a real harthook and a knock off exactly like the one I bought on ebay.

Its in my post below. Obviously $12 buy it now new is too great to be true.

Add ebay user ID jacglobal, from Salem, Oregon, United States to the list, I just bought two model 860 hartsook neck knives and they were both fake. Seller is also selling other bucks which are knockoffs.

How's about posting some pictures so people can tell the difference between the real deal and what you have. How do you know they are fakes, in other words. Simply reporting a person as selling something fake doesn't make it true, just like putting a cat in the oven doesn't make it a biscuit.

I received a full refund from the seller yesterday; no message or attempt to deny it or fight my claim. In this youtube video (not mine) you will see the real knife and the ebay knock off. Mine is just like the knock off shown in the video; same exact engravings, etc and everything shown in the video with the exception mine doesn't have any type of sticker on the two boxes.

The knives I received also look like the ones for sale from $2.63 - $3.00 on Chinese sites where you buy in bulk of 50, etc.

Excuse the novice question, but some low-end Bucks were made in China and are so marked/priced - are these fakes the same models as those authentic SinoBucks?
Could they be "lunch box" carry-outs?

In the distant past I have bought "Hong Kong" Rolexes as gag gifts, and found them to be a good deal - look good, work well, last long. Do these Bucks show evidence of shoddy workmanship that gives them away?
I am in no way advocating buying any fake or ANYTHING from China. Unfortunately, like those Rolexes, if there is a demand, the SOBs will keep cranking them out.

The knives shown here are neither made by Buck Knives, Inc. nor authorized by Buck Knives, Inc. Manufacturers and sellers have misappropriated the good Buck name instead of using their own.

There is something the manufacturers can do about ebay counterfeits. They can join a program that allows them to have listings pulled that they wish to have pulled. It takes time, effort and money to do that but it is doable. Perhaps you can write to the manufacturers involved and encourage them to participate.

Some more people who are selling fakes on ebay. 1 aways-here. 2. buyhereagain2012. 3. lovecruze. 4. magicmall2012. 5. yourpopularworld.
There are so many, too many to count. I never knew about this.
