2014 Kershaws??

Knotty, follow the thread. Scurvy stated BM makes Chinese models and he reference the red line. I was keeping things on track by pointing out that benchmade brought it's production of the BM branded knives back into the US and that he erroneously informed a new guy the red line is in current production. If you have difficulty with reading comprehension that is not my problem. Out of the blue he brings up Spyderco, I didn't and still don't get how he brought yet another manufacturer into this thread about Kershaw knives. Feel better now, or do you want to keep this going in PM?
I've followed the thread very closely actually. Infact, it looks like you should go back and read it again. Scurvy was not the first to bring anything up about another manufacturer, it was d0nut.

Reading comprehension huh? You stated:

I agree on the classics, Kershaw will (I hope) never stop making these. But to have so little new US models in the lineup is discouraging for this long time Kershaw fan. Nuff said on my part. I was lucky to get some that I wanted when the getting was good and those I will hang onto and remember the good old days hehe.
If you're going to be discouraged with any company, it should be Spyderco. They released one new model it looks like, and it doesn't look very impressive. You should've understood Scurvy's post loud and clear. At least, I did. Now, if we can bring this back to the discussion on hand, that would be great.

I smell a lock soon...

I hadn't thought about the limited factory space for production before. They do make a butt load of models here already, so I can see why they would make more import stuff.

What I find hilarious about the Emerson models is that they fix a problem I have with Emerson knives... no lefty drilling. The warranty will also be better (no paying absurd shipping charges, I think it was $14 for return shipping last I checked) and likely quicker to be serviced. I can live with a less premium blade steel when it means the knife is better made for me. Oh and there is the whole price thing...

Knotty, I don't typically buy Spydercos. So why should I be upset with them again? I am going to respectfully ask you to drop it, frankly you're coming off as a shill. I LIKE Kershaw and I'll bet I was buying them when you were still collecting power rangers, so give it a rest already.

I for one, am disappointed Kershaw has focused their efforts on the boutique ZT brand and is putting out very few US made knives under the Kershaw regular line but I will make other choices. What does being a newb have to do with expressing displeasure in a company's direction? I guess 2 years membership around here affords one condescension and self righteousness.

Beat me to it, Crom.

Gotta love how the newbs here are so disappointed with the line-up...its laughable!

Gotta love a guy with 633 posts since joining in 2011 trying to condescend to others. Wow, what a huge contributor you are, redfeenix.

I didn't say you should be upset with them. I said if you SHOULD be discouraged with anyone, it should be them. Comprehend what I'm saying? Hopefully.

Actually, I never was a fan of Power Rangers. I liked Spongebob.

Gotta love it when someone acts like your post count is the only thing that matters. I guess that means I should know everything, doesn't it? Sucks, because that's not the case.

Knotty, this thread is about Kershaw. Please don't influence me to be discouraged by other companies that I really don't follow anyhow, it takes too much effort for that stuff. I have reactions regarding the companies I follow. Back on track, I like the new aluminum handled Kershaw with s30v and very well may purchase it. Haha, and the Chinese Kershaws don't do it for me.

Gotta love it when you completely miss the point I made.

You better believe post count matters. It's a sign that you are an active, contributing member of a community. So, we got redfeenix guy here, a lurker for all intents and purposes trying to condescend to another poster. A guy who doesn't participate has no business calling other people "newbs". Sorry.

Ladies, we're all friends here, let's calm it down before this gets locked.

Knife content: The new Ruby is gorgeous.

Then why did you speak up in this thread? I love it when people try to insult others using quotes because they think that's classier than just manning up and saying "I disagree with you, but since I'm incapable of countering your argument, I'll call you names instead."

Even though I don't like Chinese knives for my own personal reasons (certainly not quality related), I've got to admit it just makes sense for Kershaw to have knives made there. Between Kershaw and Zero Tolerance, they've got a very broad price spectrum covered.

Affordable Chinese made Emerson colaborations are a smart move. Price turns a lot of people off Emerson knives (some models are also hard to find at times), these Kershaw/Emersons will be a great option for those folks and will allow them to get to know the designs and features. If Kershaw built an Emerson design with similar materials in the US, they might compete with regular Emersons, something they probably wanted to avoid. So they made the knives with very recognisable Emerson features, but still different enough from the originals. The ZT colaboration will appeal to those who want better materials and perhaps to some people like me who like Emerson designs but aren't quite happy with the materials and finish for the price.

I agree with Franciscomv. I too was initially disappointed that the Kershaw/Emerson collaborations would be overseas produced. However the more I think about it the more sense it makes. As others have stated Kershaw does have limited US factory space. Also these models can serve as introductions in two ways. One is to give people a chance to try an Emerson style knife at a lower cost. I like the looks of some but I don't know how well they would fit me and don't have a way of looking at them locally. The new Kershaws could give me a way to try one out without spending so much. They could also serve to introduce people to the world of knives. As some have said most people just see a knife as a knife and don't care much about where it was made and in some cases they don't even know what brand they bought. The Emerson Kershaws are, like all of Ernie's knives, quite distinctive. I would also expect that the packaging will carry his name somewhere. If these make it to big box stores I can see a random person picking one just because they think it looks cool. If they decide to look into either name on the package that could introduce them to a whole new world.

Why do you think post count is the only thing that makes you intelligent on this forum? Why bring up the post count of anothers, when the thread is about knives? That's hypocritical. You've only got 295.

I'm sorry, what? Intelligent? Who said anything about that? Again, thanks for proving your own quote. My point has nothing to do with intelligence, and everything to do with exactly what I stated: a low post count guy who hardly contributes to this board comes in, and makes some dumbass condescending comment. A guy who doesn't contribute to this community has little place belittling others and calling people newbs. As for my post count, I actually have a higher post count per year than redfeenix. Yet you won't see me calling people out like "Meh, hey everybody, check out this newb".

Which, again, is my point, for those who brought their reading comprehension skills to work today.

Anyway, it's Friday. I'm out of this dumb argument, and off to meet the wife and the gang for drinks. Stay frosty.

Sooooo...I heard that there was a company that was making some really cool looking sharp pointy things....

Benchmade didn't bring anything back to the USA, it just rebranded the Chinese knives. Someone stated that Benchmade was 100% USA made. What happens when that person goes on the exchange and bus and old red box knife only to find out it was made in China. What happens when they go find a HK or Harley knife on a knife website that are LISTED under Benchmade with the USA models.

Don't act like Benchmade is any different than Kershaw, that's all I was trying to say.

As I said before, if Kershaw rebranded all of their Chinese knives as a sub brand (the anti-zt) if you will, do you really think all the belly aching about Chinese models would just disappear? It wouldn't get people any more USA models so what difference does it make?

You don't need to physically say someone is/isn't intelligent to get the idea of what another person thinks about that person. Body behavior and tone are a bigger factor than anything else. Although, I can't see or hear you, It's fairly easy for me to get the idea that you think redfeenix is a dumbass, even more now that you called him one. That would imply from you that he's not intelligent. A guy with one post has every right as a guy with 1,000 posts to say something. The guy with 1,000 may say something more approrpiate for the conversation, but that doesn't mean the guy with one post shouldn't or be forced not to say anything.

Thanks for the compliment. Scored a 90% on my expository essay for my English 10 class yesterday and a 85% on the multiple choice section.

I'm sort of finished buying folders that aren't waved or at least have left-hand tip-up carry. They don't really fit into my self defense plan, though I have some really nice ones, including a Curtiss F3, a Spyderco Southard. I'm currently torn between an Emerson Roadhouse and the new ZT0620CF. You get a lot more bang for the buck with the ZT, but who knows when they'll be released or how many will be produced? Still, it's a nice thing to see. Now, if they made a karambit too... :)

You don't need to worry about production numbers. It's a regular production piece.
