2014 SHOT Show and New Products

Ugly knife - like a small version of Cold steel GI TANTo.
But it fits that las vegas "operator" outfit perfectly :D

Those of you who know me from my other blog, Jerking the Trigger, know that I am a fan of the Ka-Bar TDI. It should come as no surprise that I was excited to see a new TDI variant being displayed at the SHOT Show. It’s called the Hellfire and it is a collaboration with both TDI and Rick Hinderer. It features the typical TDI series offset blade angle paired with recurve American tanto shaped blade with a deep, jimped thumb notch on the spine.

Ka-Bar has also shown the first fruits of their collaboration with Mike Snody. The Snake Charmer is a compact, fixed blade neck knife with no scales, slight finger grooves, and a pinky loop for retention. It features S35VN blade steel. You can also see the first images of the Ka-bar Snody Boss and Big Boss (below).

There will also be a few additions to their Johnson Adventure Blades series. The smaller of the two is the wharncliffe shaped Wharnstalker. The larger is a new Johnson Adventure Blades take on the classic Parang called the Parangatang. The Parangatang in particular looks very interesting.

Some of this stuff is looking damn good.

Can't post the pics right now but their FB shows the pictures above along with three new Coppersmiths (a FB, a barlow, and a I-can't-tell), KA-BAR playing cards that look super cool, and something with a stacked leather handle that I can't see.

Some super interesting stuff!

The milspecmonkey collab knife with lots of pics is up on their page. http://milspecmonkey.com/store/blades/377-ka-bar-msm-knife-001.html

The S35VN had piqued my interest. I knew if Snody was going to have his name on it, it wouldn't be all that ordinary. I'm currently interested in minimalist, bare-bones EDC fixed blades, and I'm certainly going to have to get the Snakecharmer. I like the stonewashed finish. It looks like it'd be somewhat ergonomic even though it lacks scales.

Hey all, apologies for the absence. The Internet here has been horrendous so I have been working mainly from my phone. The show has been beyond busy. As soon as I have an opportunity to post photos, specs, and other information you will find them here. Damn Facebook, Google+, and Twitter for being so easy to use from the phone; thank you to all who grabbed photos off of those pages and posted here. Here is quick breakdown: (all USA-made) three Snody's: Boss, Big Boss, and Snake Charmer. Two Johnson Adventure Blades: Parangatang and Wharnstalker. Two TDI/Hinderer's: Hellfire and Hinderance. One Zombie: Zombro (Zombie Big Brother). Accessories: Playing Cards, Beer Tap, Bottle Opener. Thanks for your patience.

I thought these might be good bush craft blades but the more I look at them the more questions I have. The large blade has a swedge on top. Not best for batoning, and does not give you a big area for fire steel scraping. And is S35VN a good steel to use on fire steel? And with a straight handle not sure how comfortable they will be.

So far, I like the Wharncliffe Hinderer-designed TDI.

Plus, the Wharncliffe Game Stalker.

I will have to see what the prices are for the Snody Boss and Big Boss is though.

They look good and the leather sheaths are a nice touch too.
