I let this slip up on me this year. Needless to say that I don't have as much time to get it done, so I am announcing it now so you can get started entering this giveaway for this year. It is my sixth Christmas eve gift give away.

If you've been around here awhile you already know what this is about. For those that are new since last December, here's how it goes:

Our family "Christmas Eve Gift" tradition was that when you saw a family member for the first time on Christmas eve and spoke to them the words "Christmas Eve Gift" the targeted family member would have to provide you a gift on Christmas eve. Of course, this fails into the category of get me once, shame on you; get me twice, shame on me. So, you had to slip up on an unsuspecting family member to make this work. It was quite fun and some nice gifts were had and some "doggy" ones as well. But this is the inspiration for this giveaway and a way to honor the family tradition.

And, of course there were lots of "ties" with both parties speaking in unison; and ambushes too where two or more family members would lie in wait for an unsuspecting family member to walk in. Kind of like a "surprise party". One had to suspect that "white elephant" gifts were gaining popularity.

Before you get any ideas, "Christmas Eve Gift" only works for family members not forum members.

This will be my sixth such give away here on Bladeforums.

The rules are that you must have been a member of Bladeforums before the give away started and must have contributed to this subforum (Traditional Folders and Fixed Blades) at least 2 times in the last 2 months. I haven't been here much lately and might not even qualify for my own giveaway, but that's the rules.

The give away will close Saturday morning as I will have decided I need to ship the gift Saturday for it to have a chance at making it to you by Christmas eve.

Many of you will remember these past giveaways, some have won; enter anyway. Don't be posting anything like "Thanks for the giveaway, but this is not an entry." If you post anything in this thread, you are entering. Everyone is invited to enter, it is not limited except that you are a "regular" in this subforum and contribute to the discussions here. The "professional give away subscribers" will be rejected; you all know the folks I'm talking about.

During this holiday season, I would encourage you to look for an opportunity to help someone that is not as fortunate as you and give them a hand. It will do more for you as the giver than it will for the recipient, but then you never know when a simple act of kindness can turn someone around.

Wishing everybody a wonderful Christmas!

Ed J

Jeff mate. Again- it's great to see your Christmas Thread up. This is not an entry just to make way for others - but. MASSIVE thank you Sir.
Good luck to all and Merry Christmas.

Camp-- NZ -- you put in a "Post" u r in. lol

Seems like a good way to give a GAW to me ~~ I am in with all of the 'I am in's'..!*****

Great (and generous) post, it certainly is better to give... I'm not sure your definition of "contributed", but I just started dabbling around here in the traditional subforum, (and other subforums) as I spent the lion's share of my time up till now partaking in "general."

I do love the classiness of traditionals though, most notably congress patterns, (and lady legs, unashamedly so)... As I'm running a Christmas gaw myself, over in general, I'll try my luck in here provided I am eligible.

Merry Christmas to all...

Not in, I don't need any more knives. But good to see you posting again, Ed.

Ed Very good to see you posting again. Looks like I can't back out of taking part due to your rules...:D

This Christmas, the GF and I have decided on no presents, instead we bought food items for the local Cat Home and we took dog treats and blankets to the Stray Dog Shelter. In harder economic times people abandon their so-called 'pets' and animals can face a grim future, certainly Cats have some chance of fending for themselves to an extent but Dogs have little chance and become a danger to themselves and others if not given shelter. In both places the animals really did seem pleased by visitors bearing gifts!

Thanks, Will

Sounds intriguing. I am in, and now I am going to see what you have done in the past! Thanks for a chance.
