2015 NYCKS - Stronger and stronger! (Photos Added)

I really need to get to this show at some point down the road. I'm looking forward to the remainder of your knife postings. I agree, Kevin Cross makes some very clean knives at affordable prices.
The micarta Big Bear is particularly nice. The dark finish on the sheath is a rarity.

Coop,

Great pictures! Your work is always outstanding. There is no one better.

Very glad to hear that your son enjoyed himself. The knife shows are a great fraternity and he will have many wonderful experiences.

The NYCKS/ECCKS shows gets better and better. They are always worth attending.

Thanks for everything you do for our community.

John

That kitchen knife by Kevin Cross is damn nice looking. I like everything about it, actually. Yep, nice one Kevin!

I took a day off yesterday and went drag racing. :p Back to this task at hand.... :)

Wes Crawford brought me this pair of folders. Yes, I could shoot them as a set. In fact they'd look great!

I told you Barry Lee Hands was also there. His work is fitting into such prominent shows as the AKI and now even the Dress Tactical series. Here's one by Deryk Munroe.

Our favorite BF poster of all is Joe Paranee. Respect from ALL.

Joe brought me one of his most cherished (and dangerous!) Phill Hartsfield pieces, and I held off posting it until he told HIS story. He gave me the go ahead to show it here. You will learn more about it from him in his pending video.

More to come as I get back into my groove....

Those Crawford tank folders are some of the biggest beefiest folders I've held. I thought they were pretty cool.

Wes Crawford is a veteran tactical folder maker. They call this one the 'Tank'. At 4 1/4" blade it's substantial. Nicely formed new clip design.

Rod Watts brought his 'A' game in fixed blades to this show.

Jens Anso and Jesper Voxnaes are well known in the tactical market, just not in this forum. They were part of a collaboration involving a group of guys who also collect Panerai watches. This limited set and the font used on the '12' are from this Panerai moniker. They were all heading off to a secret invitational presentation dinner in Brooklyn 30 mins after I shot the set. Cool stuff!

Mike Daly is a retired officer in Queens county NY (?). He's designed and created a very smart defensive utility knife for dire occasions.

Kirby Lambert just produces killer designs and uber-consistent quality. I've handled a TON of these and they all operate consistently: like a fine knife should.
orig.jpg

Mike Zscherny is among the rapidly evolving series of savvy makers who can produce both fine traditional and substantial tactical based designs.
orig.jpg

The same might be said about Richard Rogers. Really creating exciting work which is relevant to the urban market.
orig.jpg

Local maker (Brooklyn!) Jim Merola gives us pause with his partial subhilt including some of Kevin Casey's famous feathered steel. (That's a nicely tapered guard.)
orig.jpg

Brian Nadeau came by and blew us all away with his award winning designs. Here's a series of some VERY sought-after pieces. Expect to see these in print someday in the future.... ;)

I hope you like COLOR....!!!

Theo Nazz is a young new vivid maker who is experimenting with 3-D printing and then casting that into handle and guards. Also from Brooklyn, he's a trendsetter who, at this point, has no other peers. Note how his sheathmaker incorporated the octagonal shapes into his design, too. I wish them both well.

One of the most humble and smiling faces to be at this show is the veteran maker from Japan, Chicchi Yoneyama.
He must have stood out like a lighthouse on the show floor in a sea of black and camo. ;) A personal favorite, he is always so pleased with our work for him.
orig.jpg

Old Skool Michael Walker linerlock. I shot this for a dealer (Paul Farina) yet it sold at the show! Good Karma. :)
orig.jpg

New School Ricardo Lala carved dress tactical. As current as the weather, and as fluid.
orig.jpg

Jody Muller is a soft spoken gentleman with a DEEP, DARK sense of embellishment. Proudly enhancing this folder with his work.

Coop- I like the shades on the blade of the blue Nadeau folder. Is that the blade or the light?

Either way it looks wonderful in this image.

I have been privileged to be able to work with and WATCH such amazing skills grow from Michael's Zieba's workbench.

He's working with great talent in collaborations and never stops progressing.

I implore you to pay closer attention to his work and the pieces. Here's his folder in Titanium with a copper/bronze plating.

Then next pair are in collaboration with noted designer Ostap Hel.

Cooking knives have been a specialty. However, before you slice, you have to CHOP.....!
orig.jpg

Cleverly incorporating the function into the marks.
orig.jpg

Even a san-mai kitchen knife is more appealing with a harpoon styling clip.
orig.jpg

Oyster shell knives, officer. I'm just going to a clambake..... ;)

And, in closing, I offer to show you a hallmark of his kitchen work.

Just superb design and workmanship, and WAYYY affordable to his higher-end clients.

That's it. We worked hard to shoot all of these and I was glad to have some holiday time to finish the work here.

Makers: Susan and I appreciated you coming by, and to the viewers, we appreciate your admirations.

Fifty-Fifty Productions/Steve D'Lack puts on the BEST shows I have ever encountered. Many thanks for this NYCKS privilege.

Jim, Susan and Trevor - SharpByCoop Photography.

thanks, Coop!!!

Coop, you're a marvel, my friend. Always amazed at the quality of your images, and STILL manage to be as prolific as you are. Thanks for sharing.

It's not just your "eye" or your plethora of imaging skills; and

It's not just your depth of knowledge as both a maker and collector; and

It's not just your well-focused commentaries on Blade Forums; and

It's not just your great after-show threads we drool over; and

It's not just.....well, need I go on?

It's just too much to list....along with a big THANKS!

It's always been a pleasure,

Bob
