I haven't seen the new catalog yet but does anyone have any info on this years sprint runs? I am thinking about buying a para 2 but was wondering if I should wait for an up incoming sprint run.

Nothing has been announced this year but I have a sneaky suspicion we will see something before the year is out.

Considering that it is like free money for the sponsor, I'm surprised that there aren't any being promoted right now. But if one was announced right now it likely could not be ready for shipping by the end of 2015 due to production schedules.

Sometimes the exclusives aren't announced until they come out (I think). Did anyone hear much about the bbs Elmax version before it came out?

MCM (who often announces the KW exclusives) made a pretty obscure comment on the other forum about how 2015 was going to be an exciting year. That leads me to believe that KNIFEWORKS will be coming out with one or more exclusives. Given that they brought out the m4 Military, I think if they announced a pm2 exclusive it could likely be of the m4 variety. You heard it here first!!

Lol, how's that for some wild speculation to fuel the gossip mill?? :D

I would not hesitate to purchase a Para 2 sprint in a super premium steel like S110V. My CTS204P Para 2 is absolutely my favorite and most carried knife.

Lots of good information. I really want to buy a para but I guess I will wait until a sprint run. I would hate to pull the trigger on a standard version and see a sprint run get announced.

That is correct. With all of the drama over the release of the green PM2 the retailers might be trying a different approach. With the success that CS and KW had with their recent exclusives you would think that they would have more in the works.

S110V is a popular steel right now and Spyderco now has a lot of experience with it. It seems natural to bring it out in the PM2. Similarly there would be a lot of interest in a PM2 in M4.

Up to you, but personally I LOVE Spydercos s30v. One of my all time favorite steels. Wonderful balance between edge retention and ease of sharpening. Purely from a steel standpoint I prefer it to a lot of the sprint run steels.

Ugh! Missed that one by about 20mins thanks to KnifeWorks being unclear on their hours of operation...

Para 2 in S110V would be a must have to me.
I kinda hope it becomes a production option like it has in the Manix 2 Lightweight, rather than a Sprint Para 2, 'cos then I should actually be able to buy one.

OP, I will echo Surfin here, I have and use 5 Spyderco's in S30V and have found it to be an excellent all round blade steel with a great balance of properties. In my limited experience the only steels I have and use that I like better than S30V are M390 and S90V, and M4 if you remove a need for corrosion resistance.
Would I prefer to carry a Para 2 in S90V or S110v? Hell yes. But I'm saying I don't think you will be at all disappointed in a standard Para 2. My opinion.

Also, the dealer exclusive Elmax version of the Para 2 is currently available. Overpriced unfortunately, but I got one and it's excellent, I like the Elmax though I wouldn't really put it much ahead of S30V, maybe a bit more edge retention. Sharpening is quite similar.

Didn't Sal say that they were going to concentrate on other models for sprints from here on out? I could be wrong, I just thought I had read that somewhere.

+1 on this ^^^ … not so much that I prefer it to the sprint steels, I love my 204P PM2, but Brother you'd be hard pressed to find a better value than the PM2 in S30V … dollar for dollar in its intended niche, it can't be beat.
