2016 Blade Show CRK

I would not buy it. Even if it was the same price as a regular inkosi. Just a way to make extra revenue.

So what is wrong with Blade Magazine, or any other company, working a project to make extra revenue?

If you don't like it or cannot afford the $75.00 for the engraving and exclusivity then don't buy it.

Remember that America is a free enterprise country - perhaps you are feeling too much "Bern"?

Respectfully Neil,

I think there is a fine line between a tasteful limited edition, and plain old cheezy advertising. People likely don't want an Inkosi with a Kraft or IBM logo on it either. Having said that, one with a Ford or Glock logo might sell. So it's all about taste I guess. CRK has maintained its brand by having good taste in what they put on the market. In my mind, this knife is not tasteful, and I guess most agree. So to answer your question, there is no issue with putting out a blade show Inkosi, but most of CRKs fanbase, at least in this forum, expects something a little more special or tasteful than this offering.

Don't know if anyone else picked up on it or not but on Instagram CRK called it the "Small Inkosi". I'm guessing that means there's a "Large Inkosi" in the future.

I will agree that the design may not be to the liking of some CRK fans, including the many who do not frequent this forum - my issue of with the post by staysharp^ where he or she states that this is
Code:
Just a way to make extra revenue.

Every year of the recent Blade Shows the magazine commissions different companies to produce a short run model with Blade Show indicated so they can indeed make some revenue. Why is this wrong? In his or her comment the subject of the design is not the issue - just a cheap shot at the magazine for making a few bucks.

Print magazines are falling to the wayside at a an alarming rate - just a few weeks ago the entire Harris Publication empire closed - these were the people who published Tactical Knives (defunct) and hundreds of publications in the shooting and hunting and whatever else industries.

In our knife industry, only Blade Magazine and the ever increasing Blade Show is thriving. This year the Blade Show will have almost 150,000 sq ft of exhibition space. When I started True North Knives in 1997 there was barely 36,000 sq ft of space and LOTS of space between the aisles.

So again -- don't like this knife? Don't buy it. Want to make the point that you think the design is not nice? OK - everybody has a right.

But keep the socialist agenda of begrudging a company to make a few lousy bucks on 25 knives to yourself - staysharp^

Ok, i get Neil's argument, i just think we all wished it was something a little less tacky. I sure in hell dont feel the burn:)

Soooo, yeah....when is the "Large Inkosi" coming out???

In spite of the graphics being considered unattractive to most here, and I'm in that camp, I'll bet these sell and eventually gain a bit of collector's value.

There is a place for politics elsewhere on Bladeforums and it is not here..

True. I saw an AMC Gremlin sell at auction for $35,000, so if you wait long enough, even the ugly ducklings get their due I guess. With the amazing stuff that CRK has done recently with the Ti-Lock limited editions, and even the first run graphic Inkosi's and the gorgeous graphic on the Sebenza 25 prototypes, maybe they have spoiled us and set our expectations too high.

I'd tell that to my mother, but she'd fall out if I did. She had a Gremlin for a while, and it was the worst POS she ever drove.

One thing to note about the initial opinions of this knife; Look back at some of the first posts when the River of Fire's came out. The commentary wasn't all that flattering, some people didn't like them at all. Now just look in my Box of Happy thread. We all love them, and pay stupid high prices to pry them away from reluctant sellers.

Ok, so we're not getting Blade Show tattoos... but on this forum , everyone said their piece, pro or con, no harsh words, no hate, and on we go to the next topic. I love that about the CRK forum!

Me too..Pretty low maint here
A bunch of pretty good people :)

When reading this thread I don't think I saw anywhere that Blade and CRK should not put out the knife and make money on it. I think people were just disappointed there was not some other limited edition model that they wanted to buy. I expect the 25 will sell out. I am happy with my current Inkosi and while I like Blade Magazine and subscribe to it I don't seem me buying one of the 25 with their logo. IF I could have made it to the show next month and wanted a cool knife to remember the trip with sure I would buy it.

I think the issue here is taking peoples disappointment in a limited Inkosi coming out and it was not their idea of how it should look. Not that it should not have been done and its bad for CRK and Blade to make some money. Just don't think it was political for most people.

20 years from here we will all envy the OP.....

If someone from abroad attends BLADE it might be the travel of a lifetime.
An engraved Inkosi might be the appropriate keepsake.
This run will definitely not be replicated.

Do you remember the "think twice" in morse code with the spelling error?

I sure do.
